ENT uniforms. They actually look like uniforms
My favorite is the FC/DS9 uniform. I just love the way it looks. The black and gray being the same across all the uniforms with the only color changes being to the stripe on the sleeve and the collar/undershirt really looks better to me while making them all look together but still separate divisions.
For the duty uniforms this is correct. The ENT uniforms have things like pockets and zippers and look like something you could crawl around an engine room in. But most naval personell don't wear that sort of uniform most of the time, and ENT should have had something more formal looking, for the officers at the very least. That might have been forgivable though, if they hadn't kept basically the same look for the dress uniforms, which were hideous, and the admiral uniforms, which looked like something that could be worn by a blind outer space bus driverENT uniforms. They actually look like uniforms
The red TOS movie uniforms are really the only ones that look like something an actual navy would wear, and they look quite nice to boot, though the enlisted uniform was a bit off.

^ Putting pockets in spandex is next to impossible. As for the third season revamp, I think the pants had them.
But why would you need pockets in the 24th Century. They don't have wallets or keys.![]()

So engineers don't need to carry any type of handheld tools.
Away missions don't need tricorders or phasers.

That last bit there... about the wallets and keys... was a joke. I was not being serious. I was making a funny.
Everyone knows that Starfleet equipment is carried in holsters that clip onto the waist of the uniform. Anything bigger than that is carried in a case. For further information to this conundrum, I would suggest consulting the costume designers. For an "in universe" explanation, I suggest making something up. It is, after all, only a television show.
