Favorite Star Trek game before 2000

For those who have been around long enough, what was your favorite pre-2000 Star Trek game? Could be console or computer game. Heck, let's add board games to the

Mostly, Star Trek The Next Generation Video Board Game comes to mind.

Also... Star Trek Invasion for the Playstation One came out in 2000. I have a memory of playing it. Especially fighting Romulans.

I enjoyed Klingon Academy, especially the secret "fire while cloaked" BoP, which could also be used in multiplayer mode due to some bug.

Voy: Elite Force was quite enjoyable as well. Some have criticized the game as a brainless shoot 'em up, saying that Trek should be about exploration, diplomacy, etc. Whatever.... at the end of a long and frustrating day, I just wanted to start up the game and blow stuff up.

This is mine too. I loved it - I thought it was so cool to be interacting with the Star Trek world, even if it was only through a game console.

It depends on my mood to be honest. The 25th And Judgement games were very good, but some nights Elite Force was just what was needed.

I've probably played Birth of the Federation the most though.

Would that be worth playing today? They have it on GOG.com, along with Starfleet Command, 25th Anniversary and Judgement Rites.

Starfleet Command is my goto game for fun..1999 baby...Just before your cutoff...have my Gog copy runnin on my PC as we speak..and still have all the follow-up games on disk..just in case...

I enjoyed it, but at least some people seem to think Klingon Academy was better. (I haven't played the latter so I can't say which I thought was the best of the two.)

All of them, the 90s was a golden time for Trek gaming on the PC, and i even included Starship creator, Star Trek pinball and ST New worlds in that list. lol

I remember being both addicted to and frustrated by this game. Don't think i ever finished it for some reason.

LOL! Loved multplayer mode... Klingon Academy (ST:KA) was a nice perspective and getting Plummer and Warner in was a coup. ST:KA was one of the rare games where players got to do something from the baddies' perspective, which was at timer a heck of a lot more fun.

Elite Force was a favorite of mine as well. It, I thought, tried to balance shoot'em'up with Trekkian exploration. It bent the rules of the Borg, but so did the show and movies. It's not as brainless as Unreal Tournament, the game whose engine powers STV:EF originally was (plug-in modifications have added much more in strategic gameplay)... didn't STV:EF get accolades when released (about 2000)?
