Favorite Series?

What's your all-around favorite Star Trek series?
For many years, I would only accept the original Star Trek. But now, I would say it's Next Generation.

STAR TREK: The Next Generation

A stellar role-call of the finest talent of the day comprises the main cast for this series. The ENTERPRISE-D is stately and elegant, inside and out - giving it a timelessness, all its own. The Human Condition is well-explored throughout TNG, which keeps it relevant. Some of the biggest names in Hollywood guest-starred throughout the series - some even finding their start there. And best of all: The Next Generation has Gene Roddenberry's stamp all over it!

My favourite character on the show is Commander Riker. A Hero and a Ladies' Man, very reminiscent of Kirk, only without the hammy acting. In fact, Wil Riker's probably the most relatable TNG character on every other level. Jonathan Frakes brings him to life in a way I don't think anyone else could.

TNG for me. It was the series that got me hooked. I think it took the ideas of the Original Series but was able to go further and add more depth which enhanced the series. DS9 was good but Worf made DS9 for me.

My favourite series is DS9. Agreed that the introduction of Worf to DS9 just gave it the edge over TNG for me.

Definitely TOS. Although raised on it, I don't care for TNG much these days. Aside from the few classic episodes (Yesterday's Enterprise etc), it's not very entertaining.

If I watch TNG, I tend to watch the first season episodes. Later seasons tend to get really boring with a few episodes here and there I like and rewatch occasionally - "Parallels" and "All Good Things."

DS9 for me, even though it had some problems behind-the-scenes I didn't care for, knew how to mix action and drama without being preachy about it.

My favorite, even though I'm slamming a lot of the episodes in my reviews on the TOS board, is...well... TOS. The best costumes, and the best sense of adventure.

I enjoy all of them except Deep Space Nine.

My favorite would have to be TNG.

For me it's between TNG and DS9. It's hard for me to judge between them since I watched TNG so much in my high school and college days it's hard for me to watch them again now, and I've been watching DS9 more recently.

I don't know how to compare the two now just because my brain has never been in the condition to enjoy both of them at the same time.

TOS is hard for me to watch most of the episodes due to the camp factor, one speed resolutions and now-unrelateable cultural signposts.

This thread could use a poll.

Well said.

My choice is The Next Generation, best of all Star Trek and television and movies and all forms of entertainment.

1. TOS
2. DS9 (very close call between TOS and DS9)
3. TNG

Although I did watch all seven seasons of VOY, as a whole I though it failed to live up to the promise of its premise, was often poorly written, was too derivative and generic and, with a couple of exceptions, had a less than striking cast.

ENT is the only Trek I have not watched every episode of. I've tried, believe me I've tried. Even samplings of the generally well regarded 4th season don't seem to work for me. My complaints are much the same as for VOY. And that cast? As much as I like Scott Bakula, I think he was horribly miscast and the writing and characterization of Archer did Scott no favors. Although I didn't much care for the Phlox character, Billingsley did a great job with what he was given. As for the rest, I don't think I can even recall many of their names.

1. To me, it's very simple: Star Trek is far-and-away the best series. It is the only series that can call itself a true world-wide classic. It launched a 50-year phenomenon. The characters and actors are household names. The stories and the impact of the show on culture and technology are way ahead of their time. Nothing else even comes close.

2. DS9
3. TNG
4. ENT
5. VOY

1. TNG + Films -- To the final frontier and beyond
2. TOS + Films -- Timeless Classic
3. ENT -- A good prequel that was cancelled too soon.
4. DS9 -- Great series but somewhat lessend in awesomeness everytime I rewatch it.
5. VOY -- Could've been so much more but 7 of 9 in season 4 and 5 made the show.
6. TAS -- I have a soft spot for old Hanna Barbera Cartoons. Too silly at times though.

I enjoy all of them except Deep Space Nine.
Its funny but I also don't like DS9.
I can't understand it really. It has good stories. It has Worf. Maybe its the Space station thing.
It would be great if I liked it because there are probably a couple of seasons I haven't seen.
