A seasonal treat I look forward to every fall, pumpkin raisin loaf:

And it's too soon to call this a seasonal favourite, since it's the first time I've actually done them, but thanks to a recipe suggestion from @ISS Triumphant , I have a new version of pumpkin chocolate chip cookies:

I don't know if these ended up anything like his wife's recipe, but they are pretty good in their own right... :)

I went with the eggnog, the Danish butter cookies, the fruitcake (my mother-in-law makes a really good one), and other. My other two choices would be pumpkin cookies (and yes, those look very similar, @Avro Arrow :D ), and our red and green Christmas Eve pizza. (Doesn't matter how you prefer to make it red and green, but we usually use pepperoni and green bell pepper. In a lean year, we used a pepperoni Totinos and some chives. But it's what makes it "Christmas", to me.)

I was kind of surprised that there have been positive comments on fruitcake in this thread, and that it has even received some votes in the poll. I always thought it was pretty universally disliked.

It's really hit and miss for me. I've had delicious fruitcake and stereotypically dreadful fruitcake.

I always just assumed that was a cliché that people spread around for comedic effect. Fruitcake is amazing! :D

(OK, I imagine there can be bad fruitcake, just like there can be bad everything else...)

Fruitcake is delicious, I look forward to that. I like making pumpkin spice muffins around this time. While I can eat potato salad any time of the year, I make my signature potato salad for Thanksgiving, and Christmas. In fact, I just finished making it this evening:

It is its own food group.

What is the recipe?

I make potato salad with pink potatoes (skins on) and half mayo, half plain yoghurt. And whatever else I want, usually green pepper and lots of cracked black pepper but I've been known to make it with spam chunks and corn too. Also diced pickles.

Mayo
Yellow Mustard
Peeled and Diced Russet Potatoes
Diced Sweet Pickles
Diced Dill Pickles
Sweet Pickle Relish
Vidalia Sweet Onion (diced)
Diced Celery
Diced Egg (with Yolks)
A Dash of Sea Salt
1/4 Cup Dill Pickle Juice

It's not done until the consistency is so that I can hold the bowl upside down, and the potato salad does not move. This year, I made a deviled egg filling, and added it to the mix. The taste tester (my dad) was most positive about the results.

Yours sounds interesting!

I want your potato salad!

One thing I love around Christmas time - is lots of seafood. Fish, prawns, crab and scallops. Either hot or cold, doesn't matter as long as there is some seafood. And a massive pavlova afterwards.
