I don't think you can call Tom Clancy's universe sci-fi.

With the release of H.A.W.X., I beg to differ. Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. is by far science fiction.

Not really, though I can see why some folks might think so. It's best to stick to the more "classic" examples of sci-fi. Besides, the example you cite is a game as opposed to film, TV or book - the raisons d'etre for this forum.

I wouldnt really go that far. After all, most games have some sci-fi/fantasy element to it. I would go as far as saying that sci-fi and fantasy are in better shape in the gaming medium than it is on TV.

Eh, I can't believe "Highlander" isn't part of the main choices. That's one of mine. (First movie, a modified third movie, The Series, Raven and Endgame. Forget the second and the horror that is The Source.)

I also chose Command & Conquer; but by that I mean the original Westwood series: Red Alert -> Tiberian Dawn -> Tiberian Sun. A heavy modification of Tiberium Wars, retitled Tiberian Twilight, in which for one thing, Tiberium isn't reduced from the ultimate resource, a terraformer and a plant, to a meaningless, useless, all but worthless crystal, would work as well.

You know, I never quit understood why they decided to forget the fact that Red Alert was a prequel to the Command and Conquer storyline

My favourites are

Doctor Who/Torchwood
Babylon 5
LOST

and

Other (Blake's 7, Red Dwarf)

You missed Alien.

The Alien franchise I mean. One of the biggest franchises there was.

AvP is a different thing and not worth a nanosecond of attention.

I voted for trek but have many favorites.
some are: BSG, Firefly, SW, B5, the Outer Limits
I was very surprised not to see the X Files on the list; one of my all time favorites.

I voted for Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica. Also for Blade Runner, even though I'd hesitate in calling it a "franchise."
