Favorite Non-Hero Starships.

Hey, wanted to know what you all feel are your favorite non-hero starships. By that I mean not the various Enterprises, Defiant, or Voyager. You can pick one all-time favorite, or several and it can be a Federation or other vessel.

I'll kick it off. I really like the non-Starfleet masquerading as a Starfleet vessel Dauntless from the VOY ep Hope & Fear, I believe. The sleek design, the idea of the quantum slipstream drive -- if I were a starship captain, I'd want that command.

I also like the Ferengi Marauder style ship, the one that looks like a giant horseshoe crab, and the Romulan D'Deridex warbird.

Favourite non-Hero Starfleet ship: Nebula class
Favourite non-Hero non-Starfleet ship: Klingon Negh'var

The D'Deridex is my favorite ship, no contest. As far as Starfleet goes though, I like the Constellation, Connie Refit, and the NX class.

Non-Starfleet: Galor class.

The Excelsior class because it seems to be the workhorse of the fleet in the TNG era. Also gotta throw some love to the Oberths since the design is unique amongst SF ships and since they are apparently death traps.

I forgot to mention I like the simplicity of the Miranda-class starship first seen in TWOK. It was reminiscent of a stripped down refit Enterprise combined with the original Romulan warbird.

Starfleet: Nebula.

Non-Starfleet: D'Deridex class or Valdore type.

for starfleet, i'd have to say the akira-class, absolutely love that ship! for my alien ship pick i'd have to say the klingon bird of prey.

Non-SF: Those Vulcan ringships seen throughout the Enterprise series.

The Klingon War Bird and Romulan War Bird..... Also The Bird of Prey and Dominion Battle Cruisers.

But, if we ignore that, then my favorites are....

Starfleet - Nebula class
Non-Starfleet - Vulcan Suurok class from the 22nd century.

Non Hero SF ship: Akira class
Non Hero other: The D'Kyr type Vulcan cruiser seen in ENT.

D7 class Klingon battle cruiser and Borg cube.

Both of mine come from TNG.

Starfleet: Constellation. An old warhorse that really shows her age.

Non-Starfleet: Galor. Alien, clumsy, menacing. Just the right balance for a ship that is no threat to our regular heroes but bullies any weaker players (and DS9 heroes!) with impunity. With big shuttlebays for invading those helpless primitive worlds, and down-pointing main armament for bombarding those who resist. A nasty piece of work.

The Kelvin and the Newton (double secondary hulls, half-saucered battleship) from STXI, the Klingon D7/K'tinga (which has been in EVERY incarnation of Trek) and the Excelsior as it appeared in STIII with the spacious bridge, annoying computer and conehead background crewman.

for coolness factor, very little in Trek beats the Borg Cube.

Starfleet: Nova-class. IMO, it could have been a hero ship design in a series that took place after VOY.

Non-Starfleet: Romulan D'deridex-class. A fine beast of a vessel that could be a major thorn for Starfleet ships well into the 25th-Century...

Starfleet: the New Orleans class only ever seen as a wreck, but seen in shopped images in the encyclopaedia.
