Favorite 'Little' Moments...

"That hurts worse than the uniform" and him asking Spock how to do the salute in the first place are another great little moment.

Thankyouthankyouthankyou for getting the quote correct. I can't stand it that so many think it's "I speak it with an accent", which is what a motorist said to George Takei at a stoplight in LA.

Oh, that's interesting! That was a character bit between Spock and Pike in the DC Comics' version of Kirk's first mission on the Enterprise. I wonder if writer Mike W. Barr had heard that story and decided to incorporate it into the Annual's story.

Is that right? I never heard that before. In any case I'm just glad I didn't blow the quote - although I wouldn't have gotten it THAT wrong - as JTB is not one I have mostly memorized like so many others.

That's the impression I got when I read that.

Don't quote me on the exact words, but:

ST:IV -- McCoy addresses an elderly, moaning woman waiting in the hallway of the 20th century hospital.

"What's the matter with you, darlin'?"

"I'm waiting for my dialysis."

"Dialysis! That's barbaric! Here, take this." (Hands her a pill.)

Later, as our heroes are fleeing the hospital, the old woman seen in the background, excitedly telling an orderly, "That nice doctor gave me a pill and I grew a new kidney!"

I've always loved that little McCoy moment.

ST IV is full of them.

First thing came to my mind is the simple moment they put together why the probe is there, and Kirk orders that they prepare calculations for time travel, as if its just a routine day at the office for this crew. :D

TVH is just a treasure trove. It wasn't until recently that I noticed Shatner's completely classic expression of puzzlement after "One damn minute, Admiral." So, so funny.

Smiling Spock checking out the musical flowers in The Cage!

I enjoy moments when Trek characters express a sense of awe and wonder about the marvelous things they discover. Occasionally it feels like mindblowing things are treated like "just another day at the office." Particularly in later Trek.

One positive thing I can say about early episodes of ENT is that they tried to capture some sense of that wonder and amazement.

From The Final Frontier,a movie with actually a surprising number of cute little moments, one of my favorites is the exchange when the shuttle is coming in for it's landing run.

SYBOK: How often have you done this?
SULU: Actually, it's my first attempt.
KIRK: He's good. ...Really.

What makes it is Kirk's line is read with this great little look between Sulu and Kirk. Given how much Takei and Shatner didn't like each other, Kirk and Sulu have a lot of cute 'little' moments together. :D
