Just because I'm feeling a bit holiday-ish, what are your favorite holiday movies? What do you like about them?

I'll limit mine to just a few:
Fred Claus - I found this really relatable and understood Fred being in the shadow of his brother, and the anger that some kids feel.
Elf - Just not fitting in
Miracle on 34th Street (original) - a classic

National lampoons Christmas vacation

Smoky mountain Christmas

Miracle on 34th street

Santa Claus the movie

Home alone. Part one only

Prancer

Elf
Home Alone 1 and 2
The Santa Clause
How The Grinch Stole Christmas (live action)
Eloise at Christmastime
Beauty And The Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
Christopher The Christmas Tree

It's a Wonderful Life
A Christmas Carol (Alastair Sim version is my favorite, George C. Scott version isn't bad either)
A Christmas Story
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (cartoon)
Love, Actually

Love, Actually - terrific actors, humour, romance, an ending that puts a smile on my face... love to rewatch it over and over again.

Die Hard
It's a Wonderful Life

I'm going to make it a point to see Love Actually this holiday season. I've never seen it and I've heard it's good.

Miracle on 34th Street (original) - a classic
It's a Wonderful Life
Also Edward Scissorhands

And Jimmy Stewart's other forgotten Christmas movie which I enjoy much more than It's a Wonderful Life, entitled
"The Shop Around the Corner". It's a wonderful picture that's premise is reused in the Tom Hanks / Meg Ryan picture "You've Got Mail", about two adversarial acquaintances who are unknowingly courting each other via correspondence. It also has a wonderful performance from Frank Morgan, A.K.A. The Wizard from The Wizard of Oz

A Christmas Carol (Patrick Stewart version) - I really like A Christmas Carol in general, and the Patrick Stewart version is my favorite version (and not just because Patrick Stewart is in it, and is awesome as Scrooge)

Fred Claus - This one gets a lot of hate, but I enjoy it a good deal. i like the concept of Santa Claus having a jealous brother, and I think they pulled it off well. I liked Vaughn as Fred, and the movie's version of Santa was entertaining.

A Christmas Story
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Scrooged.

And strangely enough, Auntie Mame, the Rosalind Russell version. I blame this mostly on TCM always managing to show it around this time of year.

Elf
Santa Claus is Comin' to Town (Rankin/Bass)
Santa Claus (Salkinds)
Miracle on 34th Street (remake, I just love Richard Attenborough's Kris Kringle)
It's a Wonderful Life
Love Actually
A Charlie Brown Christmas
A Christmas Carol (Patrick Stewart)
Little Lord Fauntleroy (Alec Guinness, that film is a German christmas tradition)

Be afraid, I hear a remake is coming with Tilda Swinton.:wtf:

Another holiday movie that i really like is Remember the Night with Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray from 1940. I only saw it for the first time a few years ago but it's a new favorite.

(It's difficult to convey the lameness of my Jimmy Stewart impression in writing.)
