Favorite Holiday Movie

A Christmas Carol, the 1984 version with George C. Scott. I love the locations, and the supporting cast is solid -- including David Warner and Susanna York as the Cratchits, Roger Rees as Scrooge's nephew Fred, and Edward Woodward as the Ghost of Christmas Present.

Christmas are really bad, for the most part. Cloy, trite, and more recently, not at all funny in an attempt to up the bar. But, I'm not a total scrooge . . .

It's a Wonderful Life - I didn't like this one when I was younger, but I've come to appreciate it.

A Muppet Christmas Carol - Probably one of my top 20 movies spanning all genres.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas - It's a classic, what can I say?

A Garfield Christmas - Pure nostalgia. I have a copy of the comic book that Scholastic put out once upon a time, and I used to read it while watching the show as they're pretty much identical. Funnily, it's never on TV anymore, at least up here.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (and all Rankin Bass productions from the 60s) - These are so bad, but I LOVE them. I tried showing one to my three year old niece this year, and.. yeah nope.

A Charlie Brown Christmas - At least my niece would watch this one with me, though I think the 2015 Peanuts movie helped introduce her to Charlie Brown and Co. Another classic.

A Christmas Carol
(2009) - This movie holds the distinction of being the first I saw in 3D, and it blew me away. The film itself isn't great, but it has its charm.

Mickey's Christmas Carol - A lot of different versions of A Christmas Carol are making this list. One of my favourite's growing up, so nostalgia certainly plays a role here. I haven't watched it in years, now that I think about it, but I think it's fun seeing familiar characters play familiar roles in a story you're very familiar with.
