Well, I'm voting against Kirk, since he clearly wasn't cut out to be an admiral.
Yeah, you get the feeling Kirk liked the adventure of the captain's chair much better than the political parties that accompanied the admiral's desk.
Which is understandable given his personality. What I never understood was he was never seen commanding a small fleet of ships--with the Enterprise serving as his flagship--as it could have worked in both TWOK and TSFS.

I voted for Commodores Mendez, Wesley, Decker and Stocker. I would have voted for Admiral Forrest from Enterprise, had he been included.
Mendez is probably my favorite, followed by Decker. I threw Stocker in there because he meant well, despite his obvious lack of command experience, tactical training, or common sense.

^Malachi Throne's portrayal of Mendez really brought the character to life, and made me wonder what Mendez's career was like before and after his team at Starbase 11.

Admiral Forrest from ENT. No question about it.
For several reasons:
- Forrest was played by Vaughn Armstrong, who is my favorite actor of all time
- Forrest always reminded me of my dad
- He was a one-man deconstruction zone for the concept of the 'evil admiral' that we always used to see. Forrest wasn't just a good admiral, he was a GREAT admiral.
- Hell, even the mirror version of Forrest (who was not an admiral) was cool. Despite the tendency of the Terran Empire to be thuggish and fascist, MU Forrest genuinely cared about his ship and crew, and sacrificed his life to save them. He could have been a great admiral as well!
And I feel rather disappointed that Forrest isn't in the poll.

I'm no fan of ENT either, but there is still hope for ENT and I know Vaughn Armstrong. Isn't he member of the Enterprise Blues Band?
There is hope for ENT, because I didn't watch DS9 either. I got into it by reading the novels. The authors are to blame for my being fan of DS9 now.

You make me courious. That's what I said: I didn't like DS9 until I read the novels. The authors do a great job. Christopher`s ENT novels are announced to be published in German. I might as well give it a try.
Back to topic: there are a lot of guys on the list that are:
1. Odd Customers (questionable)
2. Or as Greg Cox has put it not suited for admiralty for whatever reasons.
I didn't like Norah Satie. I stick with Ross, although I didn't like what happened to him in the Litverse.
