I just stopped and looked at the list...there are no Enterprise designs that are bad. When they sit and design with a clean piece of paper they really try to make it a ship that can withstand scrutiny over 100s of episodes. I love the ring ship: a design originally conceived for TOS. The NX-01 is great and appropriate and had to withstand the first HD broadcast in franchise history. . The original may have been a product of the ufo saucer and cigar shaped era but Matt Jeffries made it into a believable "city in space". The new JJ design is a melding of the TOS enterprise and the refit, and looks spectacular, scaled up for a real epic cinematic experience, one of the most believable and solid CGI spaceships we've seen. We're all pretty lucky that Star Trek has never produced an ugly ENTERPRISE that looked like the Serenity..the ugliest hero ship in history.

I like your post, Rama, and agree with all but one; I have to say that I never cared much for the "B".

1701-Refit Constitution Class Refit

1701-A Enterprise-Class
Because the refit design is both beautiful and impressive as first seen in TMP.

I liked the re-fit from the movies 1, 2 and 3. Maybe because it was the movies that got me interested in Star Trek in the first place. And although TMP is not my favorite of the movies, it does have a lot of beautiful shots of the outside of the ship.

Second choice would be "D". I thought it had a graceful look to it.

The Enterprise E for me, although I've fond memories of all of the TV and movie ones. It's first appearance, that slow crawl through that nebula in First Contact, I found incredibly cool.

1701 (all 3 major versions from TOS, Movies and JJ)
NX-01 (Pre-Columbia Class configuration)
Enterprise-B
Enterprise-E

Jay is nice, D is alright, C seems too blocky here and there for me and F? oh my just no.

I would have prefered a new class altogether that took the basic design ideas of the NX-Class and smoothed it out from scratch.

We had a progression of ships to the NX-Types then the full class itself, it wouldn't have been too much of a stretch to have them move on to a brand new Warp 7 build in that line. Maybe with little hints of alien additions in the hull makeup that would get blended in later designs.

Visible Andorian metals and shield emitters, Tellarite alloys and equipment, Vulcan enhanced warp engines and deflector technology, it would have looked weird, but interesting.

Yeah, I voted for other. I prefer the TOS production ship best of all, and the J.J.-prise is pretty low on the list for me. I feel the secondary hull is just too off.

So, since the OP lumped them together I have to vote other.

Actually, in the Prime Universe, the original Enterprise was built in 2245, a decade prior to the Abrams Enterprise.

The Enterprise A was identified as Constitution class on screen in TUC. Meanwhile in TWOK, the doors to the simulator room at the Academy indicate "Enterprise Class" here. So by your own logic, you screwed up which is which, the refit 1701 should be "Enterprise Class" while the A is Constitution class. This is all on screen, and therefore trumps whatever was written for any book or RPG.

Likewise, strict adherence to what's on screen mean the original 1701 (both Prime and Abrams versions) are "Starship Class." That is what's written on their dedication plaques.
Well, maybe I accidentally reversed them. Except books mean the most to me in terms of canon.
No they are not Starship Class. At least not in the prime universe. A Phaser Scematic (from "The Trouble With Tribbles") says Constitution Class.

The REAL version of the Enterprise-C.
Real?

The TMP Refit Enterprise and the E-A were, essentially, the same ship--any differences between them were minor and/or cosmetic. The TOS Enterprise and the abomination are two totally different ships. The sizes, design, commissioning date, capabilities are all different. One is a sleek and classy looking vessel whilst the other is like a flying Apple store.

My choice was for the Ambassador-Class however. She is such a great design, with a superb epsiode, and a great Captain to boot (I'm not saying Kirk or Picard aren't good as well, but there's something I really like about Garrett that just left a lasting impression). Of all the big 'capitol' ships of Trek, the Ambassador-Class is by far my favourite.
I like Garrett too!

I picked the Enterprise refit from the early movies.

The way I see it, the original Enterprise from TOS was a great looking ship. Advanced for its day, with so much potential, and room to grow.

The movie refit version is the same ship after puberty. More than beautiful, it's an absolute vision. A work of art. In my mind, no other starship Enterprise has EVER touched this version.

I think this calls for this clip, our introduction to the refit design.

I chose the Sovereign class. Nothing quite compares to the exhilaration of watching the battle of 001 at the cinema! What an introduction to an Enterprise!

Haha!! Perfect!! I've always shuddered when I walk past those shops...

Even on opening night, I felt the Borg Battle in First Contact was barely worth noting. It was like a quick afterthought...a cut-scene from a PS1 game.

But, I agree that the E is a great ship. Not my favorite...but nice.

The Enterprise refit from the movies is my pick every time. Awesome design...beautiful lines, and I love the internal layout and aesthetic as well.

I also like the original Enterprise (TOS) and the Enterprise D (until they started using the bogus-looking bumpy smaller model...).
