Favorite Christmas/Holiday special

Christmas Vacation is pretty much the only Christmas movie I like unless we go nontraditional like Die Hard or Three Days of the Condor.

Gremlins (the first one) is also a good Christmas movie. Dark, with just the right amount of goofy slapstick and Holiday humor to make you remember that it's basically a film about adorable furballs who eat after midnight and turn into reptillian monsters who proceed to guzzle beer, play darts and watch movies wearing 3-D glasses.

Sounds like Animal House. Or JJ's plan for the Ewoks in the Star Wars reboot.

Die Hard versus Lethal Weapon? a tie. ;)

Actually I can't think of any where I was waiting for December to rent or the broadcast stations to rotate back on the air. But then there is the black hole years in my social development but this is not the time or place to post my testimony, again. Of this year's crop of music specials and TV movies Kelly Clarkson's stood out

The Blackadder's Christmas Carol special from 1988 is also a complete laugh riot. Hard to believe that it's a quarter-century old this year.

I was at my buddy's house and he put this on for me.

From the premise right on down to the jokes, I found nothing funny at all there. It was agony to get through it, the longest forty minutes of my life.

Yep - watched Blackadder for like five minutes in the mid eighties and it was like torture. Maybe it's because I just find Rowan Atkinson to be an ugly little Italian looking troll or something but to me, BA has NEVER been funny.

aybe it's British humor, but really didn;t get it. I drove home thinking that literally nothing was funny. Even the premise (of a philanthropic man becoming stingy) wasn;'t funny, but I started thinking abaout ten-year-old writers I know that could actually make that terrible premise funnier than it was here.

Maybe I don't get British humor. I love the Holy Grail. Almost every joke actually lands, and you don't even have to appreciate British-style humor to figure out why their funny. I also love Wallace and Gromit. They are brilliant. But Black Adder was really bad. I'd rather go to church again.
