Favorite B5 character moments

RoJoHen

Awesome
Admiral
I've been watching B5 for a second time over the last month or so. I'm in the first half of Season 4, and I just remembered my favorite character moment from the whole series.

G'Kar, newly de-eyed, comes to visit Michael onboard B5. Michael is panicking because he thinks G'Kar is going to hurt him after putting him through hell on Centauri Prime.

Then G'Kar gives Michael a giant bearhug and sings, "Welcome home, Mr. Garibaldi!"

It's hysterical.

Mine is also a G'Kar moment (he had all the best scenes, no?) It's in the mad bomber episode where he's trapped in a lift with Londo and giggling like a little school girl.
Best comedy duo in the history of Sci-Fi!

Londo: "Come to Babylon 5 they said. It'll be and easy assignment. Oh great maker I hate my life."
G'Kar: "So do I."
Londo:"SHUP UP!"

This one:

The Babylon 5 mantra: Ivanova is always right. I will listen to Ivanova. I will not ignore Ivanova's recommendations. Ivanova ... is God. And if this ever happens again, Ivanova will personally rip your lungs out.

On a more serious note, I love this one from The Long, Twilight Struggle, where Londo watches the Centauri fleet attacking the Narn homeworld. Peter Jurasik is a genius.

I could almost list the entire series for this thread.

The first one that came to mind is the exchange between Sheridan and Delenn in "Z'ha'dum". Sheridan has just met Anna and discovered that Delenn has hidden something very important from him. It is perhaps the single greatest threat to their relationship as he confronts her. She attempts to be strong ... and then wavers as she sees Sheridan's understandable anger.

Vir's wave to Morden's head in Into The Fire.

Ivanova's reaction to Delenn's comment about feeling cramps.

Zathras' introduction.

Lochley's reaction to Rebo and Zooty.

Garabadli's confrontation with Richard Moll in Hunter, Prey.

Two of my favorites involve Vir:

From "Comes the Inquisitor:"

Vir: "Sorry."
G'Kar (cuts his hand and lets the blood drop): "Dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. How do you apologize to them?"
Vir: "I can't."
G'Kar: "Then I can not forgive."

From "In the Shadow of Z'ha'dum:"

Morden: "What do you want?"
Vir: "I'd like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next 10 generations that some favors come with too high a price. I want to look up into your lifeless eyes and wave like this [waves at Morden]. Can you and your associates arrange that for me, Mr. Morden?"

And then, of course, he gets to do it in "Into the Fire." :D

G'Kar: Understand that I can never forgive your people for what they did to my world. My people can never forgive your people. But I... can forgive... you.

There isn't enough bandwidth to post them all!

Ivanova's contribution to the complex discussion of time travel in WwoE:
"I'll be in the car."

Sheridan's response to an annoying Bester comment:
"And I could nail your head to the table, light you on fire and feed you to the Pak'Mara, but we can't all get what we want."

G'Kar's "we shall be free" speech to the council.

"Put your face in the book."

That little spoo exchange between Londo and Vir:
"This by you is well-done?" and Vir switches dishes with him.

Londo's colossal projection and his speech to his people after the bombardment.

Zathros. All of him.

Susan's reaction to the Zathros family tree:
"Nine of them! OY!"

Lyta crying when she had to put the badge back on. I wanted to hug her. Actually, I always wanted to hug her. At least hug her.

Marcus: "Oh, bugger, now I have to wait till one of them wakes up."

So. Much. More.

Vir apologizing to G'Kar.

G'Kar lets blood run down his hand: dead, dead, dead, dead...

something I think the wiser G'Kar wouldn't have done later on...

The topper is always the Londo/G'Kar Council scene from "Long Twilight Struggle". A brilliant inverse of the ending of "Coming of Shadows", when Sheridan asks to send observers Londo cooly says "that request is denied". And then Londo bellows at Sheridan ordering him to arrest G'Kar NOW!!!! Then it goes silent, the strings play softly in the background as G'Kar slowly stands up and gives his speech, "we will be FREE, once more" and walks out proudly.

Also the Londo/G'Kar scene in "No Surrender No Retreat". And the catharsis scene with Londo in his mindscape in "Very Long Night of Londo" with G'Kar-as-Cartagia ordering the whipping and commanding him to turn around to face himself.

I always preferred G'Kar's realisation that he can kill Londo by just sitting and doing nothing, leading to:

Londo CAN ANYONE HEAR ME?
G'Kar (quietly) I can hear you!

and he then starts giggling like a little schoolgirl :)

One of my favorites when taken in context with the whole two-part episode, "War Without End" and Sinclair's overall story arc:

Sinclair (to Delenn): All my life, I've wondered who I am and where I belong. Now, I am like the arrow sprung from the bow. No hesitation. The path is clear.

Oh, and any of the humorous scenes involving Londo especially in "A Voice in the Wilderness" when he tells Garabaldi of his first wife, the dancer. "She had a voice that could turn fresh milk. LONDO!"

"Appearances aside, we are two completely different species."
"A clerical error."
-- Garibaldi and Londo in Babylon 5:"Midnight on the Firing Line"

"I apologize. I'm .. sorry. I'm sorry we had to defend ourselves against an unwarranted attack. I'm sorry that your crew was stupid enough to fire on a station filled with a quarter million civilians, including your own people. And I'm sorry I waited as long as I did before I blew them all straight to hell. .. As with everything else, it's the thought that counts."
-- Sheridan in Babylon 5:"The Fall of Night"

But my ultimate favorite:
"How fast does the poison work?"
"Very quickly, he said almost instantaneously."
"'Almost'? How fast is almost? Time enough for him to stagger back into the main room and cry out: 'Londo killed me'? Or maybe just enough time for him to say: 'Londo kill..aargh'?"
"And then he won't even get that out, I mean, maybe he just go: 'Lon.. arrgh'. Or maybe he's totally delirious and then say everything backwards and say: 'Kill Londo! Arrgh'. .. I was just making a play on.."
"Well, it's time."
-- Londo and Vir in Babylon 5:"The Long Night"

Another one of my favorites is the scene with Vir and g'Kar.

^ Thank you -- that just helped immensely!

Here's a couple of excellent Ivanova moments, the first one came to mind especially to me after reading this thread.

"No boom?"
"No boom."
"No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow. What? Look, somebody's got to have some damn perspective around here. Boom, sooner or later. BOOM!" -- Garibaldi, Sinclair, and Ivanova in Babylon 5:"Grail"
And from Points of Departure:
"I can only conclude that I'm paying off karma at a vastly accelerated rate."

Cheers,
-CM-

Ivanova: "This is the Whitestar fleet. Negative, on surrender. We will not stand down."
Earthforce: "Who is this? Identify yourself!"
Ivanova: "Who am I? I am Susan Ivanova. Commander. Daughter, of Andrei and Sophie Ivanov. I am the Right Hand of Vengeance, and the boot that is gonna kick your sorry ass all the way back to Earth.

I am Death incarnate, and the last living thing that you are. Ever. Going to see...

God sent me."

"No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow. What? Look, somebody's got to have some damn perspective around here. Boom, sooner or later. BOOM!" -- Garibaldi, Sinclair, and Ivanova in Babylon 5:"Grail"

She had a better 'boom' quote in A Voice In The Wilderness:

Boom. Boom boom boom. Boom boom. BOOM! Have a nice day.

Well Ivanova dreaming of reporting to the CIC naked was pretty unforgettable. As was her "sex" scene.:techman:

And I loved the reaction of the guys at customs when the three Elvises showed up. :guffaw:

I've always really liked the little non-verbal things, like how Sheridan always clenches his jaw when he's nervous, or how Garibaldi opens and closes his hands when he's in a tough spot. Garibaldi doing that and then taking a shot glass off the shelf in "Sleeping in Light" is one of my favorite bits of the whole series.

Among countless others, I particularly like this:

G'Kar: "'Some must be sacrificed for all to be saved.' First I took that as a revelation for the future. Now I see that it is as much about how we got here as about where we are going. I think that one sentence is the greatest burden I have ever known."

and

G'Kar: "You are right, nothing would have been changed. Except that my people would now be a dead race."
Delenn: "You have come a long way, G'Kar. Further than I would have guessed. Sheridan's promise binds me as well it does him. We will take you into the Council, G'Kar. And someday, when all this is over, perhaps you will find it in your heart to forgive me."
G'Kar: "Perhaps...but not today."

from "Ship of Tears". Katsulas and Furlan are extraordinary in their scenes together in that episode.

I forgot to mention G'Kar slamming the book in the "believer's" face when the guy just didn't get it, but at the moment I can't recall which of the late S5 eps that's from. I also love G'Kar's speech about finding God using the light on the wall metaphor.
