Favorite and Least Favorite Unique Lead Characters

My least favorite of the 'outsider' characters would be Neelix. The majority of the time he was quite irritating, and his hideous suits were crimes against fashion. There was the rare occasion when we got some good dramatic stuff, like when he questioned his beliefs about the afterlife. I wish we would have gotten more of that kind of thing.

This is the third time I’ve had to address you about this. Consolidate your replies into one post. This is considered spamming.

No more friendly warnings. Next time it’s a formal one.
So, even if you make a post and then you go back to the thread 10 or 15 minutes to make an additional post that you hadn't thought of previously, I am supposed to edit my one post and add the new comments in? Oh, that's right, I'm new and I don't have editing capabilities yet. Therefore, what am I supposed to do in that case?

Also, it's almost as if I'm being picked on because I've seen other posters who don't group all their posts together, so what the hell? Also, I've never seen a board that was so obsessed with the members posting all their replies into one post... Or perhaps I'm a unique character. But that's all for me for tonight because I don't want to accidentally have more than one post in this thread which is not grouped together with the other ones. Therefore, I guess I might come back and make another post in this thread on another evening, that way, I can only make one post per visit. :vulcan:

Okay, here we go.

First, when you joined this board and registered an account, you agreed to follow the posting rules here. You can't blame staff for enforcing them, you agreed to it.

Second, why don't you try consolidating all your thoughts first, and then posting? Like everyone else here? It's right there in the rules: don't post more than twice in a row. There are reasons for that, whether you appreciate them or not.

Third, you're not being picked on. In fact just the opposite. I've been very lenient, giving you not one, not two, but three separate friendly warnings. Instead of being grateful and changing your behavior, you attack me. Fine.

And lastly, arguing with moderator decisions in the thread is not allowed, as it derails the original topic. Use PM if you must.

Or, just follow the rules you voluntarily agreed to when you opened your account.

The end.

Favorites:
TOS: Spock, no question. He's my favorite character on TOS, after all.
TNG: I can't decide between Data and Troi, so I'll say Troi.
DS9: Given the ensemble nature of the show, there are far too many to choose from. But for the purpose of this thread, I'll say Garak.
VGR: Janeway, as the first female starship captain. Or maybe Tuvix, I liked him more than Tuvok, and far, far more than Neelix.
ENT: Reed. I can't think of anyone else, and he's my favorite character on the show.

I don't really have any characters that I hate on any of the shows that I've seen, with VGR as the only exception. I can't stand Neelix, and I'm no fan of Seven, either.

I think Neelix needed a bit more grit like how he was first introduced. He's raiding the remains of probably some other bozo that got kidnapped by the Caretaker, tells Janeway to f off and then cons Voyager into rescuing his girlfriend. Kes could have been a community leader down on whatever deck for all the stragglers that Voyager picked up along the way, like other Caretaker refugees or randos that wanted to take a ride and those Equinox pricks that come aboard.
I like the Voyager version of Seven much more now but I've found it funny how the impetus for her creation was to have a "borg Babe" to appeal to the male demographic but ratings continued to decline anyway and it was female fans she drew in. Her silver uniform "was retired because the material was too restrictive for actress Jeri Ryan's movement and it was difficult for her to breathe in, especially when she sat down." Like what the fuck? Just put her in the Starfleet uniform or at least something normal and flexible. It was just weird that you have this character whose emotional growth was stunted or shut off since she was a child and then they shove her in a catsuit and sexualise her.

Seven was a very interesting character, but it was in spite of her outfits rather than because of it. In general, I have little good to say about Voyager's writers, but they managed that much at least. Aided mightily by Jeri Ryan, who was awesome despite everything that was thrown at her.

@somebuddyX Yeah, as much as I dislike Seven as a character, and particularly the way the last season and a half were all about Seven and the Doctor, I think that Jeri Ryan did an absolutely fabulous job with the material that she was given. The trouble with Kate Mulgrew on set can't have helped, either. Sure, it can't have been fun for Mulgrew to have Janeway upstaged all the time by a younger, more conventionally attractive actress, but that's the fault of the writers and execs. To be fair, all the actors were pros who didn't let their personal disagreements interfere with their performance as shown on the screen, but Voyager wasn't a happy ship the way the Enterprise-D reputedly was.
