Favorite '90s stuff?

Could be anything, but I'll start it off with...

Planters' P.B. Crisps.

Keebler Cinnamon Crispana chips. Fucking delicious generously-covered cinnamon and sugar chips shaped like Doritoes. I've NEVER had another good cinnamon and/or sugar chip since then.
A catchy jingle commercial with a brief appearance of the chips (no bag; can't find a picture of the packaging anywhere):

Deep Space Nine. ;)

And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (The movie).

And all-you-can-eat at the local Pizza Hut.

The music, mostly. Especially mid to late 90s alternative. I get so nostalgic listening to it now.

Also, this may seem strange, but I miss 90s "mall life." I've never even liked shopping that much, but it was always an interesting place to people watch. Malls feel different after the recession. I particularly miss Mervyn's and Gottschalks, which both went out of business during the recession. They were my go-to places for clothes shopping, and then one day they were just gone. What's worse is that many of their locations are STILL empty, and still have the letters up on the building. I feel a pang in my heart when I see one. I just looked these both up and I didn't realize that they both existed mostly in California, so maybe most aren't familiar with them. They were nice middle of the road stores, think somewhere in between Target and Macy's. The only remaining equivalents I can think of are JC Penney's and Sears.

There was also this really awesome candy store in our mall that I loved going to as a kid, but they took it out when I was in high school and no one else in my family seems to remember it.

I mostly recall the loss of really good things in the 90s, like Freddie Mercury who died in 1991 or Frank Zappa (died 1993).
And the invention of terrible things like hip-hop, boygroups, pay TV, Takeshi's Castle, Tamagochi and Teleshopping.

The only thing I really liked in the 90s was Clapton's "unplugged" Album, though the reason he published it was very sad (his 4 year old son fell out of a window on the 53rd floor).
Oh, hold on, there's a second thing! The Tigerente (tiger duck), invented by childrens books author Janosch:
Tigerente

The 1990s were my childhood, so I'm not sure how much nostalgia is for the period itself, and how much nostalgia is for the innocence/energy/wonder of childhood. I'm going to say....I miss when the Internet was this exciting world into itself, separate from the 'real' world, and not just something as mundane and catchall as a street sewer. Getting online used to e exciting and cool and liberating, because no one knew who you were. These days, between Google and the NSA, offline activities are more private! I do like being able to find practically anything either on YouTube or Amazon, though...

Also, I'd like to see a pair of those really loud neon pants I used to have, some sort of nylon with elastic waistbands and leg cuffs. I have no idea why I liked them so much...they looked like someone melted a thing of crayons, ate them, and then barfed.

The music is definitely a highlight for me, especially the earlier grunge stuff and Incubus before they mellowed :brickwall: out.
Surge soda (which is back now!)
Snapple's Cherry Lime Rickey soda (which is sadly not back now :sigh: )
The earlier (and clearly the best) seasons of the Simpsons
X-Files (I'm enjoying the renewal but it's just not the same)
Married With Children
Borders Book Store (I spent so much time there)

I've never seen the actual, original Takeshi's Castle, but its American overdub (MXC) is complete and total comedy GOLD. One of the most hilarious shows I've ever seen. I can only hope the original show is even half as funny as this!

Windows 95. I had the right computer for it, so I didn't have the nightmare some other people had.

You can't beat this sound... (well, maybe Windows 98 can)

Then there was the Parody Song that went with it.

Crystal Pepsi
Reebok Pumps (technically released in '89, I still consider it from the 90s)
Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Minute Maid Juice Bars
Hi-C Ecto Cooler
Tato Skins
Sprinkle Spangles cereal

High school. I really loved being in high school.Playing sports and having friends and those 2 years were I was skinny.

Star Trek: I became a Trek fan in my senior year. If I hadn't discovered Trek I most likely would have gotten a girlfriend and have a family and be well adjusted. Thankfully I was spared those things.:)

Trekbbs: It was invented in the 1990's.

Hope: It was nice back then being able to think that the future had so much potential and also not feeling like I was living in the last days of Roman Empire.

Commodore Amiga, Atari Falcon 030, Macintosh (though Apple probably should have kept improving the 2GS line that had better sound and color - the Mac Quadra would eventually catch up but at the cost of essential compatibility and monetary cost), IBM OS/2, BeOS - I was everywhere, at least with technology... most people just did the same thing with other people... Anyway, any network technology that wasn't Token Ring also interested me... As for media, In Living Color, Get a Life, The Edge, True Colors, Woops!, Herman's Head, It's Garry Shandling's Show, a few other short-lived FOX dirty sitcom/sketch comedy shows that seem so tame nowadays but people didn't appreciate the zany silliness for its own sake (yet keep fawning over how similar silliness in the 1960s is oh-so-great, oddly - both eras had the same high concept silly genres and were equally well acted, so why the bias - nostalgia from being a kid?), sci-fi l;ke Sliders... then Alternative Rock... Pet stores sold decent companion animals back then... As for music, especially after 1995, the more the 90s progressed the more the early 80s seemed more creative and inventive and more of the 60s sounded more like a song and dance.

And I always thought Win95's song was "Can't Get No (Satisfaction)"... :D Win9x was rubbish, noit just because of the stack limitations, but winNT was fairly awesome.

Wasn't "The Gary Shandling Show" a late 80's show and not a 90's show? Also did "Twin Peaks" come out in 1989 or 1990?

Jason

As long as Bush Sr. or Clinton was President, I think it's fair game. ;)

I actually invited some friends over recently and we had a Sliders marathon!

It used to be on Netflix. Then I bought the whole series on DVD for $20 at Wal-Mart. I'll be watching most of Season 5 for the first time.

And I always thought Win95's song was "Can't Get No (Satisfaction)"... :D Win9x was rubbish, noit just because of the stack limitations, but winNT was fairly awesome.

Well, one thing we both agree on -- I think -- is that Windows ME sucked. I hated it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

After the first Turtles movie came out, I wondered what a live-action Transformers movie would be like. I wish I never found out...
