Fascinating Video of CVN Enterprise and Starship Enterprise Models Together

Thanks, that was fun to watch. The only way it could have been better is if Big E had been in '60s configuration with beehive island and a deck full of Phantoms, Scooters or SLUFs and a one or two big EA-3Bs and RA-5Cs.

That's really interesting seeing them side by side. In the Making of Star Trek book there's a diagram of the outline of the starship enterprise over the outline of the carrier Enterprise. And it looks like the starship should be longer.
A comparison of the actual habitable volumes of both ships would be interesting. A large part of the carrier is taken up by it's huge internal Hangar Bay. Not to mention it's eight nuclear reactors and related generating and propulsion equipment. And it has huge tanks for jet fuel and for weapons storage.

I was going to go look for my copy. you beat me to it.
As Gilda Radner used to say "Nevermind."
The 1701 really needs to be a little bigger though. I always didn't like the idea of that huge saucer and it only having one full deck. Two would make alot more sense.

I like making the exterior about 10% bigger than Jefferies' 947 feet, so it can better accommodate the sauce having 11 decks in the middle, like its TMOST description. And no need for the scooped out underside of the saucer. The TAS version had no under-scoop.

As Gilder Radner says; "It's that damn curve in the lower saucer that prevents there being 2 full decks" ;)

Wish Gilda was still around.

One thing makes me really mad about that video.
In my closet on the shelf is the exact same Tamiya model kit of the USS Enterprise CVN-65. And the Polar Lights Enterprise refit in the same scale. Maybe I should do a video of the two boxes side by side.
