FAR CRY 2 - anybody playing?

I have been playing this and Spider-Man: Web of Shadows over the last few days. I enjoy Farcry 2 but I don't have trouble peeling myself away from it like I did with Dead Space.

My favorite aspect of Farcry 2 is how desperate some of the fights feel, accomplished through the health system and guns jamming. Pretty cool, I'll probably play it more after Fallout 3.

How is Spider-Man: Web of Shadows?

It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but I am enjoying it. I feel like Spider-Man. Some of the boss battles are fun as hell, especially fighting the Vulture hundreds of feet above the city. You have to keep swinging from bad guy to bad guy, bouncing off one and moving onto the next or you'll fall to the city below. I don't know if it was worth the full price I paid, but I am a huge Spider-Man nut so I had to check out.

It doesn't have the polish of a Dead Space or a Grand Theft Auto IV but it's pretty good arcade fun with a surprisingly deep combat system if you take the time to learn how to pull off the cool moves. If you see it in March or April of next year for 30 bucks or so and you enjoyed other Spider-Man games, I say give it a shot.

I watched a few vids on it and it looks decent.
I figured I'd eventually get it but like ya said I wouldn't pay much more than $30.00

I'm trying to decide between Far Cry 2 and GTAIV. I love the GTA series and really enjoyed the first Far Cry. I like a good open world shooter. I'm really interested in Far Cry 2 because I like the setting and I really enjoyed being able to tackle tactical situations in different ways in the original Far Cry. But, I've always enjoyed the GTA series.

Which would you recommend? GTAIV or Far Cry 2?

Yeah, GTA4 is one of those "must have" games in my opinion. Far Cry 2 is the next bracket down, check it out eventually but it's just not as gripping as it could be. Like Web of Shadows, it's something I recommend picking up used a few months down the line.

If you have any interest in the Grand Theft Auto series, if you liked Vice City or San Andreas at all then GTA4 is an absolute must buy.

But I'd recommend Dead Space over both of them. ;)

But I'd recommend Dead Space over both of them. ;)

I'm sure Dead Space is a great game, but I'm just in the mood for a different type of game. I want a more open ended sandbox that has a lot of replay value. I get the impression that Dead Space is like Bioshock in that it has great atmosphere, visuals, and story but is very linear. I like Bioshock, but once I was finished, I wasn't really interested in picking it up again.

I hear ya, I was just teasing.
I've got Dead space on the brain...umm.. ok that didn't come out right...

I would go with GTA4 but I can't speak for the replay value, honestly once I beat it I haven't touched it again.

I finished the game last night, and I have to say, the story was REALLY disappointing. Even in the end everything is VERY unclear. There are two ways to end the game, but they each give you an identical ending sequence. I don't understand why this game threw in several 'choices', but none of these choices actually change the game. Some of the things that happen towards the end of the game make literally NO sense.

Other than the story, I enjoyed the gameplay and the environment. I agree with the previous statements that the game looks sub-par at night, and outstanding during the day. Thankfully the game allows you to skip through the night by letting your character sleep.

Crap. I didn't realize GTA IV won't be out for PC until next month. I thought it was already out. I might skip Far Cry 2 and wait for GTA IV.

Yeah .. if this were any other month I'd recommend not skipping Far Cry 2.

but with all of these games coming out ... yeah, skip it. It's really not all that special.

I got the GameStop version that is supposed to be a few hrs longer, gosh I hope so.

Say what??! PLEASE tell me there isn't actually a version available from only one retailer that offers a substantially longer game? Bonus codes to unlock cars or costumes is one thing, but additional levels? :wtf:

I'm interested in this game, but my copy of Fable II just arrived so that's gonna take up my time for awhile. :)

Yep.
The pre-order has 6 bonus missions.
