Fox and Disney didn't waste any time.
Supposedly a Silver Surfer film "remains a priority project" as well.

I may be the only one who though the F4 films were okay. They got the tone of the Fantastic Four just right. You can't make a dark and depressing F4 movie or a violent one.

Some of the best issues of FF were darker.

Certainly, but generally they like being superheroes and the public loves them. They're a perfect choice for a more family orientated comic book movie.
Yeah, Akiva Goldsman's past credits just fill me with unbridled confidence. I mean, what a visionary.
While the FF movies are a bit more "comic" in tone, certainly the plot for FF2 was pretty dark -- the destruction of Earth by a giant creature ain't too happy! But they did it with a good flourish, and I liked how they made it Sue Storm who convinces the Surfer to help Earth instead of Alicia Masters. -- RR

The recent Fantastic Four movies were screaming piles of shit.
