Fans, why do you like TNG?

TNG is really the only Star Trek TV series to really hold my attention. The chemistry of the cast is amazing. Picard is an amazing captain and the rest of the crew is amazing in their own right as well. I also thought most of the writing was pretty good as well. Over all TNG was really a great series IMO.

One of the great things about TNG is the magic of the crew coming together to be greater than the sum of its parts. Really the TNG gang is a fairly unremarkable bunch taken individually, but they mesh somehow to become "like the heros of the ancient sagas," as Worf later says, or something to that effect.

The TNG crew is the epitome of teamwork, the "finest crew in Starfleet," whatever obvious shortcomings the individual characters may have.

I'm also a big fan of DS9, and individually those characters are more interesting, but they don't have that same magic as a crew that we saw on TNG. The TNG characters mesh particularly well.

Another thing I like about TNG is "Q". Never had I seen such an amazing character. One moment you laugh at his antics, and the next he becomes very dangerous. Whimsy and malevolence all in one package.

This message brought to you by "Q Who", which I am currently watching.

I love TNG because I grew up with it. I loved the variety of episodes, the stories and values it told, and the characters. I also thought Stewart was the best actor in the entire franchise and to this day there is a special place in my heart for this series.

I'm watching "Samaritan Snare" right now, and while the Pakled/Geordi storyline doesn't interest me, I am quite fascinated by the Picard/Wesley Crusher B story. I love the interaction between the two, and it's these more quiet moments on the shuttle that I'm greatly enjoying in this episode.

TNG is all about Picard. I wouldn't enjoy ToS without McCoy or Spock. Patrick Stewart is excellent enough to carry the series even without the other favorites.

I don't think any of the other series has 1 actor that could carry Star Trek in that way.

Oh, Picard is great, but he does require an ensemble to set him apart by reflecting his traits. Otherwise he just appears as a hardened, unfeeling man.
