FANFIXERS: how many of you are fellow SNW Contest(s) veterans?

Aquehonga

Fleet Captain
Just wondering:confused:

I went 0-2 for a total of 5 story submissions:o

My stats are>
Strange New Worlds 9: 0-1 for 1 story submission

Strange New Worlds 10: 0-4 for 4 story submissions.

Before I post aficionadofix in here I wanted to know how many fellow vets are in this here TrekBBS Fan Fiction forum from Pocket Books' now extinct SNW Contest(s).

I had intended on submitting a minimum of at least 5 stories to each contest but didn't get around to satisfying my own quota:mad:

The SNW Contests have gone the way of “Drexel`s Class”, for any latecomer's who aren't up to date about it:(

Damn shame too, considering all the varied great, interesting, intriguing & fascinating aficionadofix in this here forum.

So, who are my fellow vets?

I wish I could say I was - I finally move to a country that is included in the competition and the damn thing finishes! :scream:

How's that for an ironic kick in the teeth?:brickwall:

Poetic injustice:mad:

Well, even if PB still had SNW going on, the sheer number of submissions they must have received make the odds of winning so improbable:confused: I'd probably be 0-4 in it now anyway:o

I hope TPTB dig up SNW's cadaver from the cemetary & resurrect it from the dead, & soon:hugegrin:

That's unrealistic, fanciful wishful thinking:(

Oh well, time to eat a McDonald's burger:bolian:

I wanted to send one of my stories in, but never could get one quite right. When I was under age, I even considered sending it in under my mothers name, who was the one that got me started on trek in the first place.

Not living in the US unfortunately I was never able to enter, again though given the sheer volume of entries one has to be extremely good or extremely lucky to get picked I imagine.

I only submitted one story, a DS9 tale called "Closure", which I later posted on this board.

Even if I had won a story entry into SNW 9 or 10, which I did n:(t :o, you`d never know it anyway.

Had I won, nothing about my TrekBBS username, location ID, signature, etc,etc would change or be any different.

Had I won, I'd address my SNW story, or stories, up in TrekLit IF & ONLY IF it/they were brought up or if folks had or wanted to ask me about it/them.

I sure as hell wouldn't be signing autographs if I'd won.

:wtf: for

If I'd had an eency role in a ST episode or film, or a recurring itsy bitsy miniscule background role on a Trek show, I'd think ANYONE asking me for my John Hancock was daffier than that duck.

But, the point of an SNW entry or a “role” like that in a Trek production is that you'd be a PART of Star Trekdom:techman::beer:

That's priceless:hugegrin:

But, like a gazillion other Trekanados, I lost SNW 9 & 10:o

And I ain't no actor bub! See! Thank God:angel:

The folks at Pocket Books Star Trek Dept. probably turned my SNW 9 & 10 submissions into paper aeroplanes:D

Or they rolled my SNW 9/10 entries up to use for joints:beer:
Or saved them for kindling in the office fireplace at PB's ST Dept:hugegrin:

Oh well, that's how cookies crumble:alienblush:
