I had a fun evening reading this old thread.

I followed the LIS web series as they put stuff on youtube and you can find many of their videos on youtube. Mostly production CGI and stuff.

Sad that they never got a chance to try.. The J2 in the videos was rather swish looking.

Well I'm curious. How much could an old TV or Movie property that hasn't seen the light of day for decades possibly cost? Certainly some old movie from the 70s or even a show like seaQuest couldn't cost millions to obtain the rights to. Or am I that naive in that even "dead" properties still would cost millions to obtain?

Why? new people come into the site, and can not old discussions be re-examined?. Again different people different view points and after all opinions can change over time.

Never mind the fact that it creates unnecessary extra work for the already-busy moderators, even if they do spend most of the time moderating "hands-off."

I mean, really, in the grand scheme of things, a random poster necro'ing a thread is hardly the worst problem this site suffers from.

Is not the idea of a forum to exchange ideas and have a dialogue ( I realize I may get some attempts at zingers at my comment), I have come across old threads doing a google search on something relevant to me at that time. I would say it is safe to say that I am not alone in that situation.

The standing rule is don't do it.
The rule in practice is, if you do it, make sure the new posts are useful.

Guess we'll see what happens here.

Some other online message boards are OK with replying to ancient threads.

But on this BBS, bumping old, inactive threads is frowned upon by the moderators. It's better to start a new thread on the topic in question.
