family nicknames--what are yours?

. . . Hanny, Hannah Banana, Hannah Banana Baneena Banoo, Hannimal, Hannalina Ballerina, Nanna, Nanners, Nanny, Nanny Goat, Goatie, Goat(ie) Girl, Bethy, Bethy-lou....
Hannah Banana? Sounds like the latest Disney teen heroine. And Hannalina Ballerina sounds like a children's song.
I assumed all Hannahs became Hannah Bananas. :) And since Hannah Montana achieved such fame among 5-8 year olds, I get that a lot from my students.

I'm actually surprised at people having only a few nicknames, or none at all; they're just so ubiquitous for us. I don't think anyone in my immediate family has fewer than 5 or 6 nicknames, including the pets! The beagle we got from a rescue when I was a teenager was already named Harley, he now answers to that along with, Bean, Beanie, Bugle Boy, Beagsly, Smeagol (we're nerds and it sounds ike Beagle), Schmee...
I never even knew my great grandmother's name was Olga until she died; I'd always called her G.G.

I like my nicknames, and my family's. I think they're fun, they're often creative or silly, and remind me of happy times. My most unflattering one -- even more so than Goat Girl -- is "Buffalo Boobs," which has nothing to do with my breast size (and was a continuing joke as I am by far the smallest-chested woman in the family), but came from the time my girl scout troupe drove through Northwest Trek and a buffalo stuck its head in the car and drooled on my chest!

I usually get called "Asshole", but I am unsure if it is an actual "nickname".

Yeah, I'd question that, too

i used to get called 'Scott of the Antarctic' by a family friend as a kid, because of my first name...

Your first name is "Antarctic" ?:wtf: Your parents are weird.

Not that mine are better. To my kids, Mom-in-law is "Yia-Yia", which I guess is Lebanese for grandma.

Mom's "Grammie", which was a lot of fun when my son was 2-the "gr" was kinda hard to say so he used a "d" instead.

Lucky me, I was "RDS" growing up. It's from a stupid joke my mom heard once. An Indian and a Polack have a kid. What do they name him?

Running Dumb Sh*t.

As a baby I was so serious-looking everyone in the family called me "Ja-Ja", a Polish nickname for Grandpa.

My sister calls me (or used to, when we were speaking to each other) Pooks, Pookies, or Pookie Pies amongst many many other things. I have a ton of nicknames among friends, and amongst my relatives there's this elaborate naming system based on how old you are and your relationship to other individuals. Bengalis also do a specific nickname of sorts that only one's own family uses, so all of my relatives have a ridiculous number of names that they respond to.

My parents sometimes mix my sister Katie and me up- even though we're grown up and don't look quite as much alike as we used to. So they'll start to call me by my sister's name or vice versa, then quickly add the right name. So I'm Katie-Judi, and my sister is Judi-Katie.

Dad used to call me "Little Toot"- from a Disney cartoon. :o

My late grandfather use to call me "Cobbs". Everyone knew him as Pan, and gave virtually associated with our family nicknames. And my late grandmother use to call me "JoJo"

When we were kids, my brother used to call me "Bri" or "Bri-brat" (my name is Brian).

I used to play in a jazz band where we had a bass player named Vanessa and she got a lot of nicknames like that too. :D Then one time, Ed Shaughnessy (who played drums in the Tonight Show band when Johnny Carson was host) came to do a jazz clinic with us, and he kept calling her Elmer. I never did figure that out.

When I was a toddler, my grandfather would call me "Judge" because of the way I would sit in a chair, and just look out at everyone in the room...

Other than that, everyone just called me "Tommy" 'cause it was short for Thomas.

My brother, though, he had the nickname of "Big Knot" in high school, because of his size & abilities on the football field. Dad was soon referred to by my brother's friends & classmates as "Super Knot", for he "brought forth the Big Knot".

My sisters were often referred to as "Mouse" and "Kitten."

Kinda wish they had kept callin' me "Judge" now that I think about it...but, I'd guess it stopped after my grandfather passed away.

My older brother had a million nicknames for me growing up. None of them sensical, pronounceable, or even writable with my current keyboard.

I used to be called Bones, because I was so thin as a child (my aunt came up with it, and she's not a trekkie!).

My younger siblings call me Babamboo, as they were unable to pronounce my name as young children, then it just seemed to stick to the point that when they grew a little, they were shocked to find it was not my actual name! And Babamboo doesn't sound at all like my name. Funny how it could have come about!

My parents never had nicknames for me or my sister.

We (husband and i) have/had a few nicknames for our kids. Our son: Pal and Big Guy (this was when he was a toddler. The name came from WKRP in Cinn).

For our daughter, we called her Little One (TNG) until she told us we couldn't call her that anymore...so we moved to Munch (short for Munchkin) or Munchy.

When I was a toddler, my grandfather would call me "Judge" because of the way I would sit in a chair, and just look out at everyone in the room...
That one reminded me...when my sister was a baby we'd all call her Sherman because of the way she'd plow into and over anything and everything in her walker.

My son was 'Buggle' ~ when I tucked him in one night when he was small I said 'Now you're as snuggled as a buggle in a ruggle'. So I became 'Muggle', long before JK Rowling used it!

Now he 17, he's 'Bug' and I'm 'Mug' ~ which makes sense as he bugs me and I'm a mug for the amount of cash he gets out of me.

Man calls me 'Pilsey' ~ after the Pilsbury dough boy, if anyone remembers that? It has something to do with poking someone in the stomach and losing your finger :(

Son calls his grandfather (my Dad) 'Scrags', because he thought he looked scraggy in his shorts one day.

Sir Squeak, the cat, is called 'Boo Boo', 'cos he's beautiful, but Man refers to him as 'fatty', which is a tad rude I think

At my last job I had a boss called Jenny ~ I nicknamed her Donkey, 'cos a Jennie is a female donkey, but also an irritating sidekick in Shrek that doesn't stop talking.
She found out ~ that's why it's my ex-job

... but Man refers to him as 'fatty', which is a tad rude I think

When I was a kid, I had a black Chow mutt mix for a pet. I named him Spike, but dad just called him a lazy n-word, 'cause he would just lay in the shade all day while I was at school.

my cat's got a dozen or more names: her real name is Shade.

she's also called Shady-puss, Slim Shady (she lost a lot of weight), Shady-lady, Shady-poo, Shade-O (as in Lion-O from Thundercats), Ninja (she has a habit of turning up out of nowhere), Shadykins, Baby-girl, my Shady-Baby, Baby-puss, Baby girl and sometimes just 'trouble'.

my dad sometimes calls her 'black bitch' if she accidentally scratches him. :(

...Slim Shady (she lost a lot of weight)...

We had a guy at work that we used to call 'Fat Andy' ~ he lost a lot of weight so then we just called him 'Andy'
It's probably one of those 'you had to be there' things :guffaw:
Oh it made me laugh... (I'm easily amused!)

My mom's side of the family calls me Durango. I have no idea why. It started when I was about 2 so I suspect it's probably embarassing. So I never asked.
I'm so asking about this.

I never really had to many nicknames, myself. None worth mentioning anyways.
