FALLOUT 3 - discussion thread

The only problem with fast travel is that you can get ambushed by attackers. Or worse yet, you can spawn enemies on top of you while you are near some townsfolk or dealers. I had to reload so many times because that happened... ugh.

Yep, I have been walking everywhere like a moron. Thanks for the fast travel advice. It has helped out immensely! Right now I am fighting a bunch of dudes outside of Vault 112 (at least I hope I am near it).

Glad to hear that things are going better for you.

The best advice I can offer is to select your weapons carefully based on what you've specialized in. I went with small guns, found them to be pretty good, lots of nice unique weapons. If you go for small guns, find and KEEP Lincoln's Repeater. It is one of the best guns in the game.

If you're going to pick a second weapon category to beef up, I'd go with Big Guns (or whatever its called). The Gatling Laser (and the unique version "Vengence") count as Big Guns, not Energy Weapons.

Pretty sure the alien blaster is an energy weapon. I personally loved energy weapons. The plasma rifle that you get from the android quest in Rivet City is just amazing, and so durable too, that by the time it starts to get close to breaking is about the time you'll be finding tons of regular plasma rifles to repair it with.

^LOL! Well I found Vault 112, but I havent went in yet. I got tons of small guns (10mm, chinese pistol, laser pistol) and a minigun, laser rifle and other stuff. I also got tons of food stuff and simpacks. I'm pretty much at my weight limit, but I hate giving up anything. especially the guns and food because it took forever to get all the stuff I needed to survive.

My tactic for killing stuff is to just run up to it and shoot it in the head with the hunting rifle. So far this has worked against the supermutants and humans and other various things I have run across.

I got one question: Where is the lab in the radio station? I wanted to wear the Brotherhood of Steel armor, but I gotta see some lab guy first for permission, but I cant find his lab.

I found the lab in the citadel and now I gotta find Gunny at the "Bailey" for training. Where the heck is the "Bailey"? I'm running around this place looking for it, but so far no luck. I am about to give up and head off to Vault 87. I need armor though, the armor I had one is broken for some reason and I got to get it fixed or find new armor.

The Bailey is the training area in the courtyard. Where the troops are training, shooting, fighting, etc... Gunny is usually walking around that area. Just go up around and talk to everyone until you find him. Oh, and make sure you are looking during the day/afternoon. During the early morning and night he will be sleeping or somewhere else in the castle.

Sounds like you need to stash that excess weight somewhere! If you don't have your own house/hotel room yet then I suggest the common house in Megaton, it has plenty of safe lockers to stash your extra gear and food.

southeast of rivet city, if you swim for a while you will see a wrecked boat, on it are ammo containers with about 8 rockets

It's Bethesda. Of course it'll be substantial. :techman:

I'm about halfway to Level 11 myself, and loving it, especially now that I've gotten some good gear and a decent amount of caps. I've barely been doing the main quest, though. I kept getting distracted by other things, and now I've explored almost all of the Virginia side of the map.

Not necessarily. Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles were substantial. Horse Armour, Yet Another House Mod #1-4 and Mehrunes Razor were anything but.

It's 800 points and by all accounts one long quest and some new equipment, so I'm expecting something half as long as KotN, which would be decent enough.

I never got around to checking out KotN or TSI. Actually I never checked out any of Bethesda's add-ons to Oblivion, as far as I can recall, because I eventually lost interest in the game. I can't fathom why, honestly. Playing Fallout 3 has made me want to fire up Oblivion again and see if I can continue where I'd left off a couple years ago.

I've been playing Oblivion again the past week or so after leaving it untouched for about 2 years. Did a fresh reinstall, got some good plugins, and set all my skills and attributes to 100 so I don't have to worry about all that silly leveling nonsense. Did Dark Brotherhood right away as those quests are so darned fun, especially "Whodunit?" :techman:

Oh, and since I'm on a GTX 280 now the game runs beautifully with everything maxed out, even with Qarl's texture pack.
