The gotcha could be even worse - there's a reason why the humans have to agree to put the harness back on the kids - such as, the invading aliens are the losing army of a battle against a truly horrific foe, that will just bulldozer Earth and gobble it up for fuel a la the Doomsday Machine. The kids need to be transmogrified into skitters in order to fight off this far worse menace, which will appear just in time for the season ending cliffhanger.

We're just about at the end; I give this one 4 Skits, it was an improvement over last week, just due to the human drama and the weird thing with the Den Mother Skitter. Really frakkin' weird.

Moon Bloodgood was just superb in this one; in fact, she's putting in a better performance here than she did in Terminator: Salvation. She's become my favorite thing about this show.

ANOTHER War of the Worlds-ism. Now the Mechs make a spooky call noise, just like the Martian machines in the novel and Speilberg's version.
First obvious Massachusetts mistake: "Turnpike"? New Jersey has a turnpike. We have a Mass Pike. Nobody here calls it anything else. (except Certain Death at particular times of day) Can't wait 'till someone tries "Peabody".

I Gave it 4 Stars too, and for all the stated reasons

Moon Bloodguard, the Skitter/harnessed relationship possibly turned on it's head, 2 instances of feeling ashamed of the executions. despite the justifications of war. Wondering about What "Their Goal" is, and who exactly "They" is?

(They started it, but, yea, was feeling sympathetic for both when they were killed. Nice example of looking your enemy in the (mind's)Eye and still being able to kill them).

I'm growing attached to the Teacher/Radio expert.

In the scene w/Stephen Weber and the alien POW, did Weber say something about the skitter having dilated irises or some other odd symptom before they cut away from that scene? I got the impression that Weber might have been on the verge of discovering that the skitter was drug addicted just like the kids. And going through withdrawl would explain why the skitter went berzerk and killed Weber. (In addition to wanting to escape of course...)

Weber mentioned something about "rapid blinking". The one thing that kind of dissapointed me was the fact that in the last episode when the kid latched his harness bck on - in effect the Skitter was speaking through him. Given they want to learn more; I'm surprised there was no follow up or any attempt made to directly communicate via that method for a short time.

The other thing about the first kid freed: He seemed not to remember a thing, or recognize his father; yet at the end of this episode, oonce Ben wakes up, the first words out of his mouth are "Dad?" Just wondering why one kid's memory would be impaired to a massive degree; yet Ben's memory appears inract.

Still overall, I like the series and the fact they haven't done any real spoonfeeding of info to the audience as yet.

Maybe because the first kid's skitter-mom is still alive, and Ben's skitter-mom is dead?

If they are mentally attached/bonded, maybe that stuff makes a difference.

Might be down to the Skitter, If Ricky was in a different nest, maybe his Skitter was more militant, versus Ben's being loving, allowing Ben to hold onto his love for his dad? With the way Hal was questioning Ricky, it seems the show isn't hiding from the difference between them

I'm willing to look past a few of the failings of this show seeing as it's one of the few sci-fi shows presently on TV, but whoever is behind the music should be fired on the spot.
Trite, generic crap that's painful on the ears...

I honestly tune the music out. Doesn't bother me because I don't even notice it due to its mundane nature. Not hard to do.

If only it could have been like The Wire, you would feel the isolation of no music except when a character played it. But now the we have a base at JFK with restored power, oh well. its like SGU's universal iPod charger.by

^what restored power? They were still using candles and wind-up radio.

They had a record player going and the hand crank for the radio receiver, its just a matter of scale. Sort of like vehicles without electronic fuel injection systems can work

Well we all call it 'the pike' in cental MA. :)

Yeah, OK. But "Turnpike"? Here? Oh, well. I guess the term "Massholes" went away when all the cars stopped running. Too bad, I thought that was a term ripe to break into the national lexicon.

I honestly did not know she could act. She must have been in some lousy roles in the past. Just the standard girlfriend type, I guess.

I wish I could. Mundane music doesn't get through my mental screening, but this show's music is bad enough to break through. That's an unusual degree of bad.

I'll do my best. :D Does it refer specifically to Massachusetts drivers? (Look at me, I spelled that right in just two guesses.)

Moon was fun in Journeyman as the Evil Leaper.

She had all the answers and didn't want to share them with the new Time traveller.

It was hilarious how she kept backstepping into other decades rather than answering a question ever.

^^ That was a decent show.

This was a pretty good episode. I was happy to see the annoying doctor die at first, but now I'm not so sure; he did provide a nice foil. Pope is okay, too, but a little too extreme and cliched. I was surprised he didn't return yet.

The nesting scene in the hospital was creepy and interesting. Perhaps there are internal divisions and conflicts in Skitter society; maybe the captured Skitter was a soldier and the hospital Skitter a doctor or nanny.

I wonder if they'll ever work on a plan for going after the tower in Boston.

The term refers to ONLY THE FINEST driving talent we have here. It's a badge of honor to some (like the gentleman with the giant "MASSHOLE" tag in his rear window who passed me today) :)

I can think of several conversations I've had about Massachusetts Politicians, where I would've been proud to come out with the term MASShole :rommie:
