We all know nuBSG and Abrams Trek are successful reboots. But what reboots/remakes are major disappointments, both television and movies?

Dark Shadows, Night Stalker, Flash Gordon.
On a creative, artistic level, I can't think of a single reboot that has been successful; which is why reboots are a singularly bad idea.
You are assuming of course, that many of us don't find RDM's final clusterfuck to be an insult to our intellect.
I haven't seen Trek XI so, I don't know if that is a fuck up or not.
Day the Earth Stood Still (remake)
The topic is not stuff we like/don't like. It's what's not been successful.
Various attempts at remaking Bonanza
Dragnet...hmm this game is sort of fun
EPIC FAIL, BIG TIME!!I hate to admit this given my adoration for the film but I think by large Superman Returns was a pretty expensive failure. I don't even necessarily think it conforms to the "reboot" label -- it was positioned more as a sequel to the previous Christopher Reeve movies than anything else -- but I suspect it was WB's desire to have this launch a whole new series of Superman movies and obviously that ain't happening, so I guess you could consider it a failure on that regard.
