Fades, Beeb 3 9 tonight

I was just thinking of posting a thread much like this one. Hope it's taking cues from Being Human rather than most other shows on BBC Three.

Bob! What did you think?

At one point I was literally standing outside the door asking Him Indoors what was happening; never mind the old Doctor Who behind the couch scenario. I know you don't mind horror but I was fookin' scared, man.

Well I rather enjoyed that. Didn't overdo the yoof element, creepy if not scary (I don't scare too easily on the telly these days) and Mac might well be the funniest new tv character in ages!

Couple of missteps I thought, I'm sure the idea of the beacons sounds good on paper but it looked a trifle silly. Still they are creating a mythology from scratch so it isn't all going to work. The eyeball stuff was wonderfully gruesome!

I rather enjoyed it. Definitely be back next week. Wasn't scared at all but there was some rather grisly bits. Cutting the infection out of his eye, for instance. The two guys friendship was good, loved the line when he was trying to buy cigs "You can touch his stubble"

The bit with the future vision kinda reminded me of The Dead Zone, when it was good.

Saw you were on facebook, should have sent me a message and your memory would have held your hand through it.

Make sure it's night, turn off the lights, close the curtains, turn up the sound and put your hands over your eyes...

This actually is 'Original BBC drama' and I haven't been so pleasantly surprised for years. I agree the two lads friendship is nicely done with the comic relief judging it very well. The twin sister is marvellously appalling.

I would put in a spoiler bit but I don't know how to do the code thingy.

[ SPOILER="like this"]put your spoiler here[ /SPOILER] That's how you do it, just without the spaces.

I think Being Human is good on BBC Three too. But the Beeb could certainly do with more of this sort of stuff. I mean I've loved a lot of this "Original British Drama" they've done lately, but have you noticed instead of police drama a lot of it has been conspiracy drama?

Or police conspiracy? ;)

No it nice nice to see something a bit different, much like Outcasts. As good as Page Eight or Shadowlines were they weren't hugely different, just exceptionally well done.

I hope Outcasts and Miracle Day haven't put the BBC off sci-fi altogether.

^Despite Miracle Day not being all that good it actually did quite well in the ratings, once the finals were in, even over nights I think it was always in the top 30s. So once finals and iPlayer views are in it's probably doing pretty well overall. And apparently Starz are interested in more, they just want RTD on board.

For instance, the episode on the 8th of September

17 TORCHWOOD: MIRACLE DAY (THU 2102) 4.63

And that's without the viewing from iPlayer. I bet you could easily add another 3-500k.

Okay what I was going to add was:

It was a bold move to kill off two of the ghostbusters in the first episode.

I watched this last night and really enjoyed it.

Pretty creepy, all the characters seem to somehow be involved with the school teacher, who I guess will have a big part to play later.

Liked seeing tea-leaf from Psychoville again.

I watched it when I got in off nights and have to say I was pleasantly surprise so will definitely give it ago next week.
Just one thing did they say why people are now have trouble finding places to cross over?

I believe he said because humans are concreting everywhere they're destroying the natural crossing places... Or that's what I seem to remember.

^Yup that was the reason.

Although considering how much of the UK is still countryside you'd think they'd be able to find a place!

Yeah, Id be OK if I died where I live, but if you die in the middle of London there are no crossing places.

But Sarah had clearly travelled some distance to get to the wood so it seems the Fades can travel to find a passing place. Also given they were in the middle of nowhere it seems the process, as I think Neil said, is pretty random.

Of course you never know, ascending might be a more horrible fate than not ascending!

I'll be interested to know if the Fades can communicate with each other?

OK, the press pack for iPlayer usage is out for August, it appears 4 of the top 20 shows are Torchwood.

16. Torchwood: Miracle Day - Episode 7 - 486,000
5. Torchwood: Miracle Day - Episode 6 - 611,000
4. Torchwood: Miracle Day - Episode 5 - 712,000
3. Torchwood: Miracle Day - Episode 4 - 770,000

Oh and
1. Doctor Who - Lets Kill Hitler - 992,000 just for good measure.

and since this is the Fades thread...
BBC Three's The Fades started brightly last night, the latest overnight data has revealed.

Scouting Book For Boys writer Jack Thorne's six-part horror drama, starring Iain De Caestecker and Lily Loveless, premiered with 732k (3.1%) in the 9pm hour.
