Face To Face With An E.T.?

Like I said in the sci/tech thread about a one way trip to Mars. It depends alot on accomodations.

If you had the chance to meet an extra terrestrial...alien from another planet...and it didn't look humanoid...maybe it looked like a giant spider or squid...etc...but it could communicate with you like telepathy or something...

Would you? Would you be scared? What if it wanted to take you to it's world, peacefully...no harm to you intended...would you go, even if the journey took along time, several years?

I would, I would be very scared and right now at this point in my life I would go on the trip...but if things change and I had a family and all...no I wouldn't leave them for along period of time.

FUCK YES. I don't care what they'd look like...they could be hairy jellyfish with claws, teeth, and one leg for all I care. I'm sure communication problems would be solved, if there's any to begin with, that is.

I would not be scared, why would I be? Sure, let me bring some workout equipment, a tape recorder, some tapes, camera and such. Also, I doubt the trip would take several years, just because humanity is ether too stupid or stubborn to create FTL travel, does not mean the aliens can't do it, either.

And to get away from family...all more the better! :bolian:

And if the trip was awesome, which I'm sure it would be, I'd only come back to Earth to have these guys to hover over the white house, than NASA HQ, and finally to shake hands with George Noory, Richard C. Hoagland, and Art Bell, and offer them a ride, if possible. :bolian:

You know, if the tables were turned (so to speak ) I reckon we'd also be doing the whole anal probe (colonoscopy) thing on them too.
That's different. We'd do it because of science. The aliens just do it for fun.

To Serve Man. :)
As long as there's no anal probing I'd still be willing to negotiate. I mean, "It's a cookbook!" doesn't necessarily mean it's instructions on how to cook people. It might just be a cookbook of various Earth dishes so they know how to feed us. They were never very clear on that.

Sounds like you know more about the alien frame of mind and society than it seems. Please tell us more about how you know they do it just for fun. :)

Yes, please do. ~taps foot, waiting~ :shifty:

Is a humans worse fear an alien is going to eat them or insert objects into us??? Cause we do this to ourselves already.

Sorry no video.

I am glad people took this serious. I am just curious would anyone be willing to meet & travel with an alien species that doesn't fall under some Star Trek fantasy...thus it looking like a giant bug or sea life...or something else unappealing to the human eye...if it was a friendly meeting and journey I sure most people would jump at the chance...I also would think the journey would take years because it isn't like going in a trip to the beach for the weekend...you would most likely spend time to get there and time on their planet.

It does amaze me how alot of people in general though view the idea of alien life as "cute" or laughable in the main stream, especially mainstream media....it's like they treat as a movie of the week, yet they are so serious when it comes to something that's really laughable, like Katie's devorce or Tiger Wood's personal problems.

I doubt the trip would take years. As I mentioned, just cause humanity's too dumb and/or lazy to (officially, anyhow) acknowledge FTL travel, does not mean the aliens don't. I bet they'd look at the so-called gods of science and go, "This Einstein fellow has no idea what he's talking about. :borg:" They'd have technology so amazing that our state of the art stuff would be prehistoric junk to them. :p

But it explains everything!
No, it does not.

Back maybe 300+ years back, maybe less Our current technology would seem like magic...I am thinking advanced alien technology would seem that way to us now.

I don't care if it takes 5 seconds to get ot another aliens homeworld...I am sure someone would spend several years there to see everything and learn as much as they could...I know I would want to come back the next day or something.

I am getting the impression that unless a sexy Vulcan babe came to them and said "Wanna go where no man has gone before?" they could care less about Extra Terrestrial life.

Nope, ET life is, to me, the biggest possible thing to happen. We're in a silly society that only cares about stuff....as in "If it does not help raise my stock share value, I don't care!" or "If it does nothing for my 401K, I don't care!" Luckily, I'm not so obsessed with cell phones, SUV's, micro brews, plasma TV's, or spray cheese like 90% of people...Americans, anyhow.

The Economy, terrorism, pig flu, Katie's devorce, and so on....thay all mean NOTHING in comparison to learning of, and meeting, ET life.

Many people do care about it as I do, but we as a whole are pretty much either ignored, or we are laughed at. If you are interested in talking over this stuff, Jetfire, let me know....we're out there, just that many are forced to be in the closet. :borg:

I signed up at ATS but haven't been there in months.

The biggest problem I think most people have would be the reality...it is all fun and games talking about and seeing hollywood movies but to be face to face with an E.T. would be a different story.
