I'm confused about Aschilde's plan. She framed Riggsy but didn't intend to kill him because the real goal was to trap the Doctor and deliver him to some unknown party. Why did it mess things up for Clara to take the tattoo if Riggsy was just bait for the trap?
If it was okay to deliver the Doctor and not kill Riggsy, why was it not okay to deliver the Doctor and not kill Clara?
Maybe I missed something, but the alien Clara asked about the tattoo said that there were two ways to escape its fate-- for Aschilde to remove it or to transfer it to someone else. Was he lying?

I imagine the Raven would keep killing her as long as the chip keeps her alive. Which would, um, suck.

^ They won't recast Clara. That would be dumb, especially given the actress is open to a return. She could ALWAYS come back as any number of splinters. But like I've said before, I think she'll definitely be back during Capaldi's last episode. They did it with Billie Piper and Karen Gillan, so they'll do it with Jenna somehow.
I'm not particularly impressed with the way they wrote Clara out, it was very convoluted. Clara takes Rigsy's death sentence because it won't kill her because Ashildr promised she would be save except now Ashildr can't protect Clara because Clara changed the terms but the entire thing was also a set up to deliver the Doctor somewhere ... and then it takes forever for Clara to actually die. Meh.
Last Christmas would have been the perfect edot for her had she died there. It was a great scene, great acting and it gave the title "Last Christmas" meaning. It's disappointing they scrapped that ending, added the "Just kidding, still young!" scene and then did this.

Having had some time to think about it, I think killing Clara was a mistake. I'd rather her leave of her own accord or run from the Doctor like Tegan did.

I've not been following spoilers much and only had a vague idea that Jenna Coleman was due to leave sometime soon. And thought this looked like a filler episode. So I thought Clara's death actually had quite an impact. She was getting too reckless, enjoying the risks of the Doctor's way of living too much, flying too close to the sun. The death scene itself wasa bit overwrought, sure. But her imploring the doctor to keep being the Doctor, and not go all Cosmic Force of Vengeance, was a great way to go out.

That is nice to hear. Give her a nice ending though I don't want to see those Moffat-"superwomen" that are (almost) all over time and space for a while.
As for the episode: It was a very good one and surely the best in this season.
The logical problems have been mentioned before - why didn't the doctor take the tatoo? And what about Me? All the time complaining about eternal life and the problems with her memories but not taking the chance of death? But those problem are not too massive to spoil the episode.
I'm looking forward to next week. Till yesterday I managed to remain unspoilered and for that: It was about time.

There a lot of call outs to famous British children stories in Doctor Who. From Peter Pan to Narnia to Harry Potter. I don't see why people are bothered by it. DW is a FAMILY show after all.

"Do you know what? I am a really big Harry Potter fan and it never once occurred to me when writing it that a hidden street, a Trap Street was like Diagon Alley because I imagined it looking completely different.
The description in the script is quite different and it just happened to be the way that Michael [Pickwoad, designer] went with his design for it.
I think what it is is that era. The way the mythology of a Trap Street works is that the era that the Trap street was created, as in when it was hidden from the world, is probably about the same era that Diagon Alley was built. But I imagined ever since that time, when it was blocked off to humans and just exclusively an alien place, there would have been alien renovations, I guess."
