I'm a week late but I'm finally going to watch this series tonight. I figured since the past discussion for it has been utterly drowned out by Yet Another Dead Horse Debate About MCU Time Travel Mechanics that we should have a separate thread for the show. Should've been here in the first place but I dropped the ball last week. Hopefully those who have already watched the show are willing to repost their thoughts here so we can have a proper discussion.

I scanned through the first episode, and thought it was garbage.

Historical adventures of the Black Panther, without using Marvel History or Real History.

Looking at the wiki....

Episode 2: The Trojan war.

Episode three an historical Iron Fist.

#4 Distopian 25th century Blank Panther mentors coming of age cowboy Bank Panther.

Might go back.

Watched the first three episodes and I'm mostly loving it. The animation is superb (especially the seemingly hand-painted backgrounds) and most of the characters are engaging and thoughtful. Of the three, the first episode was my favorite, largely due to the fact that I felt that Noni was the most interesting of the three lead Wakandan characters. I found B'Kai's trust in Achilles foolhardy (but I've always disliked Achilles in any interpretation so I'm biased) and Basha too cocksure for his own good (and certainly the Hatut Zaraze). That said, I loved Jorani and I would love to see more of her Iron Fist in whatever form.

Yes, the artistry is magnificent! Beautiful!
I actually liked to first two eps best, with their classical Greek fantasy imagery.
The second two were too comedic for me. I like a bit of comedy relief, sure, but these had a bit too much. A lot too much.
Also, I get that Wakanda is a technologically advanced society, but holy crap! Aircraft and radio and vast underground monorail systems in 1400 AD?!?! Come ON now!

I didn't vibe with the series either (the animation style wasn't my cup of tea) but it did use real history -
the subtext is that Nketi is the leader of the Sea People ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_Peoples ) whilst the Battle of Adwa is used as the setting for Episode 4 ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Adwa )

Garbage? Jeez. Just from scanning? That's hyperbolic

Didn't continue Hitmonkey, Morbius or Helstrom by the same criteria.

You can tell when some one might want to make a good story supposedly set in a larger universe but the money men put them in a tiny box with unassailable constraints.

Imagine a movie set in the James Bond Universe about "the Australian overseas secret intelligence agency" which was never allowed to mention Britain or the 00 program.

I don't really follow what you're saying here

I compared a hypothetical James Bond Move with no James Bond, to this Cartoon about Black Panther, with the Wrong Black Panthers, and very little to do with the last 18 years of Marvel lore.

Identical bullshit.

Shuri and Riri need to hook up faster than this, because their Portmanteau would be "Shuriri". Now imagine Ricardo Montalban saying "Shuriri".

That being said, stories from the funny pages about the wrong Phantom of distant eras were almost always a classic romp.
