Extended sequences with no Enterprise crew

I have "Is There in Truth No Beauty?" on TV (H&I broadcast), with its confrontation between Miranda Jones and Larry Marvick followed by Marvick's attempt on the Medusan and resulting insanity (the latter of which is split by a commercial break). Besides this and the long scene in "Mudd's Women" of Evie and Ben Childress getting used to life in his hovel - her instructing him to clean his frying pans by hanging them in the sandstorm, etc. - I can't think of any others.

Yes, there are a few brief crewless sequences in addition to these, but no other extended ones, are there? Brief ones might include the native couple attempting to kiss in "The Apple," Rojan and Kalinda attempting to kiss in "By Any Other Name," and Bele and Loki running toward the transporter room (separately) at the end of "Let That Be..."
 
I also noticed this the last time I watched Is There in Truth No Beauty?
 
I think I recall the miners in "Devil in the Dark" planning to take action against the Enterprise men and the Horta they were protecting.
 
Nona and the Villagers in "A Private Little War". And Apella and the Klingon (I forget his name) in the same episode. Granted Kirk and McCoy were hiding in the room, but with them out of sight, it was just Apella and the Klingon.

On a similar note the whole USAF planes taking off sequence at the start of TiY. By the way - the planes were Lockheed STARFIGHTERS . How appropriate eh?
 
Droxine and her father have a nice conversation in "The Cloud Minders." They would cut to the Enterprise monitoring them because they wanted to beam Plasus to the surface, but the scene from Stratos POV was just the two of them.
 
There's a brief scene in Day of the Dove with just the Klingons plotting ("A thousand throats..."). All these are fairly brief, though.
 
The teaser of "The Devil in the Dark" takes place entirely on Janus VI with the Enterprise only mentioned.

The teaser of "Tomorrow Is Yesterday" is just from the USAF point of view. (ninja'd)
 
In Turnabout Intruder, there are two scenes. One with Colman and Janice where Kirk's consciousness is in Janice, another with Colman and Kirk where Janices's consciousness is in Kirk.

Question is, which of those scenes was without Kirk?

Me too, but I was sure happy to see some cool F-104 action anyway! That screaming-down-the-runway-and-cranking-up-for-heaven shot still gets me right... there.
 
Without the ability to time all these sequences, I believe that the longest of them (and the only one long enough to have an act break in the midst of it) is Doctor Jones, Larry Marvick, and the Medusan.

In addition to the episode being a welcome deviation from the typical "Kirk in danger" plot, one of my favorite things about it is getting to see the main guest star in so many different moods - not so likely if he or she is interacting only with crew members. (Although a scene with Kirk, in the arboretum, includes one of my favorite lines of the whole series: "I've never been to Earth.")
 
There are a few scenes in Miri where those little rascal kiddies are on screen much too long for my tastes. Go away, you rug rats!

I like that bit because it takes place in my home city (Omaha). :)

(Specifically...the episode only says it's "the Omaha installation" but it's almost certainly Offutt Air Force Base.)
 
Yes, I agree -- "Tomorrow is Yesterday" has the longest scene without Enterprise crew. I also remember being a kid when I first saw it and thought Star Trek had been preempted by some kind of military TV show. :)

Assignment Earth - this may come in 2nd for longest scene, but probably has most footage without Enterprise crew. Lots of time with just Gary and Roberta, and also Gary dealing with the computer, gaining access to the rocket launch pad, and attempting his work on the missile.

Plato's Stepchildren. I think they have some rather lengthy scenes without Enterprise crew present, especially with ridiculing/teasing of Alexander.

This Side of Paradise. There's a rather lengthy discussion between Sandoval and Leila, that was cut during the broadcast version but restored in the remastered version.
