express yourself/your life in one word for today, v 2.0

Take care.

Thanks

Hope you’ll feel better soon! Do you have any strategies for coping with anxiety?
Thanks. I’m on leave from work while I get myself together.

My strategy used to be to beat myself up and get stuck in to something distracting until it was time to drown it out with wine. That only worked for so long, fifteen years or so. I used to find that if I stopped being busy for any amount of time, I’d have a panic attack.

Now I have some medications and I’ve allowed myself the time to relax, and step back a bit from what I can’t control. I’ve read books this month that I’ve wanted to read, written some cathartic whimsy, taken a short break in a rainy windswept town, built a lot of Lego sets with the kids. I still have panic attacks though, but not so often.

Ugh. I know the feeling. I hope you're able to work through it soon if you're not already over the hump (it's 6 hours later when I'm replying).

Thanks. Some of my recent anxiety attacks have left me with sore ribs for the rest of the day. The worst is behind me now though and the day is done. Time now for TV on low, half a tumbler of my Christmas present, and idle web browsing before bed.

Well, when I was a government worker not everyone was sent home -- the "essential" employees were kept on the job even during gov't shutdowns. Surely safety inspectors would be considered essential. I can also tell you that the government is bloated and the shutdown should actually illustrate this.
