I tried clicking on "Play" this morning and got the following 404 error:

Yeah, I saw it too. I'm not sure what happened, though, as there's no explanation I can find anywhere, and no sites reporting on its shutdown.

Wait, what?! They took it down? Wow, I can't get behind decisions like that. How was this brilliant, completely harmless project infringing on their trademark? Or am I reading this wrong?

It would've been CBS that stopped that project, not Abrams. Paramount only had control over the movie portion of the franchise.

I just took it to mean that it is down for now, rather than dead forever. Until we hear otherwise, I'm sticking with that. :)

Unfortunately the site's robots.txt has prevented archive.org from grabbing a copy :( otherwise someone could save the swf locally

I am pretty sure it loads the graphic data dynamically, so it wouldnt have helped to store the swf.

I know for certain that's been like this since the 8th, at least, because that was the last time I tried to access it and it gave me the 404. At the time, I was also hoping it was just a maintenance issue. But after a week, it's still like this, and there has been no word on what's going on.

I don't mind the design. It's their use as long range shuttlecraft (Geordi went on holiday in one, unable to even stand up for how many hours on end?) that really irks me. The shuttlepods really should have been restricted to travelling from orbit to a planetary surface, at absolute tops.

I agree wholeheartedly. However, we all know that Geordi got an invitation to stretch his legs by friendly Romulans, apparently not too long after departure.

I found the Doom guy's Helmet and shirt in Deck 2.

I can't find a way to get to Deck 3 though to see the shuttlebay.

Edit - I found a way to deck 3 using the stairs. But how do you get to see the shuttle?

The shuttle bay itself isn't there yet, you can see some shuttles in the adjacent maintenance bays.

It's down once more... not sure how long -- maybe a couple years? Could be the creator ran into some hosting costs that he didn't care to bear.
