Experience with IVF?

It's kinda personal, but I would appericate any stories or tips from some who might have experienced personally or known someone close to them…

I would be starting fertility treatment soon. The doctor is saying In Vitro is likely necessary but not before certain sets of shots.

I'm having a baby fever. My boss had her baby just after Thanksgiving and one of my fellow teachers' wife is expecting as well. We have been married for three years now (Our third anniversary is this coming Wednesday).

I've been doing research and looking around websites. We even went to baby r us earlier today to check out prices, etc. I'm a little concerned that it would be rough for my wife (doing IVF can be hard on the mother to-be), not to mention she would be starting studying toward her MBA now and her mental health issues would be rough for her. I figured it would be best to look around and figure what stuff we would need.

P.S. WE learned something new concerning IVF. Only 20 percent of IVF treatments results in multiple births (twins, triplets, etc).

I have a friend who has been going down that road for awhile now. They did IUIs first and she got pregnant twice but they weren't viable (one was a miscarriage, another ectopic). They've done a couple rounds of IVF now and she had another miscarriage. It's been rough, both emotionally and physically. The injections and all have been tough on her body but not to the point that she wouldn't want to try another round. You'll just need to be very supportive.

I'm sad that they haven't been able to have children but I've seen their marriage mature over time and I feel like they are close in a way that a lot of other couples aren't, just from going through the process.

As far as multiple births go, I think they were asked how many embryos they wanted to have implanted each time. So multiples don't have to be a possibility if you don't want them to be.

Wishing you the best of luck!

Thanks.

The missus says her side of the family have babies easily  I hope that would mean a viable baby in there after implantation.

I hope things work out for your friends.

My sister in law who was in her late 30s at the time fell pregnant the first time with IVF. I hope it works for you, too. :)
