All of Azato's "The pain, oh the pain" dialogue got cut, along with the "bellicose bumpkin" exchange.
Yeah, I enjoyed his bits of humor in "Savage Empire;" it's like he has a older brother relationship to B'Fueslek, constantly teasing him about his "alienness."
Actually, the script reads: ACT 4 FADE IN: EXT. WEIRD SPACE -- EXETER The starship careens out of control. INT. BRIDGE The crew rock and rolls in their seats. Then, the alert light on the helm start flashing. HARRIS (arms waving) Warning! Warning! Red Alert! Red alert! GARROVICK What is it? HARRIS Danger, Captain Garrovick! Danger! CUTTY Let me pull out her power pack, please Quince! HARRIS That does not compute. INSERT MAIN VIEWER (OPTICAL) Where meteors (blue tinted balls of aluminum foil) fly past. RESUME BRIDGE WHAM! The ship rocks. GARROVICK (into intercom) Sickbay. Doc, any casualties? AZATO (COMM VOICE) Oh the pain... the pain!
Didn't Spock have that line on occasion? I recall reading about Shatner urging the stage crew to give him an asprin.
Stuntman/acrobat Janos Prohaska. He invented the creature, showed it to Gene Coon, and Coon went to his office and wrote the script. (At least that's Justman's version of the story in "Inside Star Trek.")
Dunno, since the entire thing other than a few pickups was shot in a two-week period - and the pickups within a couple of years, tops. Maybe they were just more tired toward the end of the shoot.
Actually, the pickups were all were all done within about the next 8 or 9 months. This project may have accelerated my aging though. Maybe that's what it is.
Well then, you'd better hurry up and finish Act IV before you age yourself right into retirement! (I keed, I keed )
