Exeter Act Three Has Been Released

I saw it more as Garrovick being the Guy Williams character from "Lost In Space," with B'fuselek as Will Robinson and Azato as Doctor Smith.

Harris is the Robot.

Yeah, it was a bit tricky filming around that.

middyseafort said:Yeah, I see Garrovick as a Pike-type commanding officer who internalizes his decisions but still has a confidant in Cutty. As I said before, the characters of Exeter remind me of the dynamics in "The Cage" -- i.e. The Captain (Pike/Garrovick), the First Officer (Number One/Harris), the confidant (Boyce/Cutty), the alien (Spock/B'fuselek) and the yeoman (Colt/Richardson).

It's funny how that kind of worked out. We tried to base the character dynamic on the TOS model (with the Spock character getting split into two people). As it is though, I can see the similarity to "The Cage." While Harris was always intended to cold and cerebral, ala Spock and Number One, I think Garrovick's perceived "humorless"-ness is tied more to the circumstances of this particular story than to the character in general. He makes a few attempts at humor in our first ep, "Savage Empire."

Yeah, I enjoyed his bits of humor in "Savage Empire;" it's like he has a older brother relationship to B'Fueslek, constantly teasing him about his "alienness."

So, there's a "Danger captain Garrovick! Danger!" bit of hers coming in Act IV? :guffaw:

Actually, the script reads:

ACT 4

FADE IN:

EXT. WEIRD SPACE -- EXETER

The starship careens out of control.

INT. BRIDGE

The crew rock and rolls in their seats. Then, the alert light on the helm start flashing.

HARRIS
(arms waving)
Warning! Warning! Red Alert! Red alert!

GARROVICK
What is it?

HARRIS
Danger, Captain Garrovick! Danger!

CUTTY
Let me pull out her power pack, please Quince!

HARRIS
That does not compute.

INSERT MAIN VIEWER (OPTICAL)

Where meteors (blue tinted balls of aluminum foil) fly past.

RESUME BRIDGE

WHAM! The ship rocks.

GARROVICK
(into intercom)
Sickbay. Doc, any casualties?

AZATO (COMM VOICE)
Oh the pain... the pain!

The question now is, who's wearing the over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder?

Stuntman/acrobat Janos Prohaska. He invented the creature, showed it to Gene Coon, and Coon went to his office and wrote the script.

(At least that's Justman's version of the story in "Inside Star Trek.")

Dunno, since the entire thing other than a few pickups was shot in a two-week period - and the pickups within a couple of years, tops.

Maybe they were just more tired toward the end of the shoot.

Actually, the pickups were all were all done within about the next 8 or 9 months. This project may have accelerated my aging though. Maybe that's what it is.
