Excelsior Class... Variants

I realize that the Ent-B was just a redress Excelsior, they just didn't want to damage the original Excelsior. But what other Excelsior Class refits are there? I only remember seeing the Ent-B as one. We see plenty of Excelsior class ships still in service in TNG and DS9 and I think even Voyager in Endgame and I don't recall any Ent-B style refit ships.

The Lakota in DS9 was the ENT-B type. When they were filming TNG they hadnt made that model yet thats why you dont see it there.

During GEN, the extra bits and pieces were added to the existing Excelsior model to create the Enterprise-B variant. Were they ever removed? If not, that would explain why the Lakota ended up being the variant style, too. The other Excelsior-class ships that turned up later on DS9 and VOY were all CGI, I believe.

I could be wrong, I'll have to look it up, but I don't think they were removed. Something about damage to the original model, keeps coming to mind.

Got it, thank you Memory Alpha

Although the fairings on either side of the deflector dish were designed to avoid damaging the original Excelsior model, the glue used to hold them on permanently damaged the model, requiring the production team to leave them on for the model's appearance as the Lakota, and make another model for the Excelsior's appearance in VOY: "Flashback".
The original Excelsior model was still marked with the Lakota's name and registry number when it was sold as Lot #998 at Christie's 40 Years of Star Trek: The Collection

The modifications to the Excelsior model were designed to be removed. Either because they went CGI or were unable to remove the additions is hearsay. When the model was sold at auction (for a hundred grand) it had the Enterprise-B additions and Lakota markings.

Found a page with all the photos, except for the Enterprise-E

I would have loved that Ent self-destruct model from STIII.

But it wasn't the Ent-A yet, it was the refit. ;)
