Evil Dead Rise

Well that was great.

With so many kids in the cast I was worried that they'd tone things down but that's definitely not the case. (In fact I'm hoping the youngest kid doesn't end up in therapy when she's a few years older!)

While you'll never be in any doubt about the size of the budget, moving it to the big screen was definitely the right idea as it needs to be seen with an audience. (It also makes the reasons for dumping 'Batgirl' even more dubious.)

We also get confirmation that all of the movies take place in the same universe and a sneaky cameo from Ash who will wind up in the 1920s at some point.

Edit: It's already into profit after it's first three days, so I don't think it'll be 10 years until the next one.

Rule one to starting a thread.

Assume everyone is a no nothing childlike ignorant moron.

Attempt context, and supply a link to wikipedia or IMDB.

If you really want any one to have any idea what you are on about, supply a trailer.

I wasn't crazy about the last Evil Dead remake. Is there more to this one than to see how mean and nasty the violence can get? For me, I like the frenetic nature, inventiveness and odd humor that comes along with all that stuff, the bigger world opened from the Necronomicon and so on. I enjoyed Ash vs Evil Dead a lot but I see this but it just looks like cheese graters, pulling teeth, open wounds, and so on.

The Exorcist is what has my attention these days.

Like the submarine on FEAR, I think I know where this sequel is going.

Ellen’s character was a successful movie star right?

Success has its price.

Remember how Susan Smith cried just a bit too much after her children were found in the lake…when most would simply be anxious or struck dumb? She didn’t cry because she didn’t know what happened to them. She cried because she did.

Regan just a random target?

ha

With Gemini gone, Captain Howdy needs a new “Hand.”

Malachi Martin had a term for those in willing partnerships…the “perfectly possessed.”

After all, Ellen has a doo straight from Exorcist III.

“Geriatrics are so easy to possess”

Or maybe an angry priest who saw her get two good men killed when she tried to renege on her agreement…there are two possessions in the film…and I understand Pazuzu and Baalberith don’t like each other.

I won’t tell…

Deep down, where it really counts, all actors are whores.
