Agreed. I miss those days terribly. So much imagination went into those that fed back into the fandom's imagination at-large, continuing a fantastic feedback loop leading to some of the greatest fan designs and designers of the genre.
Just doesn't feel the same now, despite some people's best efforts. I dunno...maybe I'm just cynical.
