Ever been in a fist fight?

Not for a few years now. A couple close calls I charmed or otherwise got out of without any punches thrown, but I had my fill of knocking assholes around back when I was fat and people thought I was an easy target.

My mother told me that if I got in a fight and didnt fight back then she would spank me so I fought all the time. The good thing about fighting back was people learned to leave me alone because they knew I would give as good as I got.

The last fight I got into was with some loser in college. He kept harrassing me and I kept reporting him to the dorm supervisor and they did nothing. So one day he threw a punch at me and I proceeded to beat him up and I broke his ribs. The campus cops were called, but when they heard how this guy had been harrassing me for months they told him he deserved everything that happened to him and left. He never bothered me after that.

Yes.

But I've also worked as a police and security officer at different times in my life too. I'm generally built for that type of stuff anyways. I'm larger, stronger and faster than most people. Being larger usually ends most confrontations before they begin. Being stronger means I have pretty good odds of coming out of a confrontation on top. And being faster means that I can disengage a confrontation if I need to (or run down anyone else attempting to disengage).

All and all, I'd rather not get into fights though. The last fight I was in was started when I was sucker punch by some guy (breaking my nose)... that was about 10 years ago. In my time working as a police and security officer I'd like to think that I was successful in avoiding confrontations and defusing most tense situations. Fewer incidents happen on my shifts than most of the people I worked with, which I always thought was a plus.

I don't go looking for trouble and I'm quite happy to give people a way out of trouble if possible. :D

I would be a given - I work as a wrestler so I tend to engage in fist fights while at work. Though I get paid for it so it probably doesn't count ;)

Outside of that I'm pretty dosile and tend to be a bit of a diplomat. The only memorable fights were from working in security when people would try and engage me, but always ended up being restrained instead of KO'd... and twice attacked in town. Once by a guy who went for me and my pregnant other half a couple of years ago who recieved a 'warning shot' when he tried to punch me (I'd probably have been more diplomatic if she wasn't under threat), and a group of guys who tried to mug me in Glasgow.

The latter was a bit of an ego bruise as there were too many to defend myself properly - The only thing that made me feel better was a mate pointing out that I was wasted, they were sober and I got away with nothing stolen and no lasting damage... and being able to claim criminal injuries ;) Though I never did put in a claim. Considering what I do for a living, I still feel a bit of embarrassment over it.

There was a similar situation a few years ago where I had to defend myself when some guys tried to mug me near Blackpool, but thankfully that self defense moment was more successful. Though it left me quite annoyed on the trip home to Edinburgh and put a downer on the trip.

Might seem a bit much - but reading back I'm glad it was due to being defensive rather than looking for a fight - something I've seen a few wrestlers do when they've had a drink in them.

I can count em' on two hands, and most of them were with family members (brothers/cousins). We love each other of course... it much be the Irish thing. I also got int a fist fight in high school once because a kid, trying to goat me, called my mother a bad name (not that he even knew her). Anyway, I responded accordingly.

My tattoo guy and I beat the shit out of this guy at a party for punching his girlfriend right in front of us. Shouldn't hit ladies, you know! After that my buddy wrote "woman beater" on his forehead in permanent marker, and we threw him into the street.

Yeah many times, though its been a long time now...since my 20s. I was bullied in middle school even though I was fairly big. It was mainly kids much older than me or multiple kids. I never lost and usually the other guy was worse for wear.

RAMA

Yeah, I've defended myself plenty of times. A few years back I gave a guy a crack in the back the legs with a pool cue at a bar after he came at me swinging. He was drunk off his ass and I guess he didn't like my comments about how he was treating his woman. Elbowed him square in the nose and he went down like a sorry sack of crap. I don't start shit, but I don't take shit from a-holes either.

A boy punched me in the stomach when I was 6 or 7. In retaliation I made up a rumor that he had webbed toes, and it followed him for the rest of grade school.

Lost the battle, but won the war.

Many, but none since graduating from high school fortunately. I went to some pretty tough schools with a lot of gangs out in the Inland Empire during junior high and the first couple years of high school, and I was always the tall kid everyone wanted to mess with, so I was in a lot of fights back then. I played a lot of sports, so that always was a source of fighting because your adrenaline is pumping, but those usually were over and done with as soon as the fight broke up. Plus, I had several fights with my dad when I got old enough to fight back, which was always fun.

Fortunately once I went to college everyone had pretty much grown out of that kind of behavior. And I've been able to generally talk or intimidate my way out of fights ever since. At worst there's been some shoving and trash talking that doesn't go anywhere.

Last fight (hopefully) was 8 years ago at at club called "Barbarella" (yes named after the film) in Orlando Florida. It was dollar well drinks, my friends and I where drinking cheap whiskey sours. I don't remember much. I remember having him in a headlock and hitting him. When we where pulled apart I took my knife out of my pocket but for some reason put it up (thank god). The bouncers kicked him and his friends out, let us stay and bouncers bought me another drink. Have no clue why. The only other two things I remember is after the bands set (They where called "Old School Beat down" I kid you not) they thanked us for fighting and my friends said I won.

Oh yeah, did I mention this was a charity event?

Anyway, not my proudest moment. Thank god my wife (then girlfriend) could not go that night.

I'm older, hopefully wiser and don't drink.

Where in the inland Empire?

Not after middle school. I was short and nerdy (well, actually I'm still short and nerdy...), so I was bullied a couple of times. I fought back with the blind ferocity of a wolverine, so they got the message that I wasn't worth the trouble and they let me in peace.
Now I have some years of training in self defence, but I never needed it. I got close to being attacked a couple of times due to road rage accidents, but I kept my head cool and defused the situation.

Fought once when I was around 16, some classmate kept messing so I warned him, he hit me in the gut, I hit back, I hit the other guy pretty hard, busted his lower jaw knocked out three molars and he was unconscious for half a minute which was rather scary because he was as pale as a zombie.

After that I got a letter from the insurance company with lots of passages in red despite me not starting the fight.

I got into a number of fights in my heavy drinking days, usually bar fights started by someone else on account of a drunken misunderstanding which was typically my fault.

My success rate was mixed. I'm a big guy, and if I can bring my weight to bear I can subdue most people. OTOH I often didn't realized a fight was on until I'd already had my bell rung pretty bad.

A few.

I worked in the oil patch for almost a decade, and played hockey for twice that long.

Oh how this thread has me longing for the good old days... I would gladly suffer a swollen eye or a few broken fingers. :(
