Q. anyone play EVE?

A: I am at about the end of a 14 day trial and still at odds to signup or not?

Q: the idea seems too complex for chaos theory to collapse into nothing but it could?

A: ?

Q: does this game have even greater potential beyond the ten year mark?

A: we shall see?

I've tried it and enjoyed it very much - EVE is a true sandbox MMO.

I'm studying economics, so that part of the game is right down my alley - if I had (a lot) more time on my hands, I'd continue playing in a heartbeat. :techman:

It is a fascinating game to read about, but I don't have the time nor energy to really play it.

Seems like long periods of boredom punctuated by an occasional moment of insanity. If you're not working for, or an asset of, a large corporation, it looks really boring.

I don't think it's the kind of game you can get a good feeling for with the 14 day trial, most aren't. It's no different than WoW, you can't just play the first few levels and give up because "the game sucks", because you've only played a fraction of the content, and not even the great content.

Then again, if you haven't found anything you like about it, it might not be worth the money to find out.

^More to the point if it takes more than 14 days to even get to a good bit then it's really not worth the time and effort.

things that require great effort and time might be worthwhile to one and another a wasted effort.. the money is the issue I am prempting a starship in star trek online and continuing to miss out on tv of any kind except net filtered tv.. so the 14$ goes to sto or tv or eve

right now it is eve then again I might chuck the whole lot and continue on as is.

Not necessarily.

MMORPGs are not really like a lot of other games. If I bought a first person shooter, and I had to play for six hours before they let me do anything, it would be disastrous.

MMOs are designed to be played for months or even years. Spending a couple of weeks worth of play time building a character and doing relatively (compared to end game) mundane things is common place. There has to be some place to grow, you can't just give everything to a person on day one and leave them with nothing to work towards.

Now, it certainly shouldn't be boring as shit, but if it takes a couple of weeks to get going but happens to lead to three years of great game play, isn't it more likely to be worth it?
