Eva Green cast as female lead in Dark Shadows

He looks like a mime. :rommie: Maybe it's some kind of super-sunblock so he can travel during the day.
 
I really hope that isn't what Barnabas Collins looks like throughout the film... because he looks freaking stupid.
 
I've never watched Dark Shadows, but I feel it necessary to defend these new pictures of Johnny Depp in costume because there are SO many factors that go into a final shot of film, that just because he looks incredibly pale, that doesn't mean he'll look like this in the movie.

Lighting, angles, filters, etc. all have to be taken into consideration, and all we are seeing right now are a few far away paparazzi pics.

The dramatic color (or lack thereof) of makeup on Johnny makes me wonder: is Burton going to be filming this in black & white or color? 'Cause Johnny's makeup looks very 1920s silent film-ish. Someone online also pointed out the possibility that the sunscreen-white makeup may actually be a part of the plot. These pics are from broad daylight out on a beachy-looking setting. Perhaps Barnabas is wearing sunscreen to be out in the sun? *shrugs* Who knows? We haven't seen the script. We haven't seen the dailies.

Another thing--it looks like they've used makeup to enhance Johnny's cheekbones. Which works for me, because the original Barnabas definitely has very impressive cheekbones.

So, basically, we should wait for official production stills, a trailer, etc. so we can have some context to these photos.

i'd wager that Barnabas is either wearing sunscreen or is suffering from the effects of his 'cure'. but i'm with you, i'll wait till i see the trailer or official pics before i start to cry foul.
 
Yeah, I think that's it; he's also wearing the hat and the shades, so I'm sure it has something to do with Hoffman's cure.
 
I doubt that the movie is in b/w, because:

1) The original tv series was mostly shotly in color, as were the two previous movies.

2) The last time Burton did a b/w movie (Ed Wood), it tanked at the box office. I can't imagine anyone is going to let him try that again anytime soon.

(Ironically, ED WOOD is probably his best film, but it was also probably his biggest flop, money-wise.)

wow. Johnny looks really creepy as Barnabas. and HBC looks...very very odd as Dr. Hoffman.
 
Wow, props for going with the look of the original soap.

Though I think the Addams Family looked less scary than this lot.
