Eva Green cast as female lead in Dark Shadows

This was one of those shows where everybody had great names. Some of my earliest TV memories are of watching this show with my babysitter.

Mrs. Lovett as Julia Hoffman strikes me as a terrible idea.
Kathleen Turner might be good.

In the earliest days of DS, Elizabeth Collins Stoddard was the center of the plots. Why hadn't she left Collinwood in decades? What happened to her husband? Was she really Victoria's mother? Aunt?

But, IIRC, Joan Bennett was actually sinking slowly due to her alcoholism and the producers had to work around her a lot. Seems like I read that in one of the tell-all books written by the cast in recent years...

When I remember DS, I remember Barnabas and Angelique and Josette and Dr. Hoffman and (later) Quentin.
Not Victoria Winters or Willie Loomis? :rommie:

Okay, I remember Willie and Victoria, of course, although I can't say Victoria made much of an impression. She was just the ingenue for the first few seasons . . . .
Yeah, Victoria was supposed to be the "Victorian" heroine, but she was soon eclipsed by other characters. Willie rocked, though. :D

Eventually some of the off screen scandals and changing of actresses wrote Victoria Winters out of DS completely. For the most part, her storylines had finished their course, except for the one glaring mystery that was never answered. Was Victoria Elizabeth Stoddard's daughter?

There was a great website with episode by episode analysis, but I think it's been hacked. darkshadows.com is just blank now. Pity.

I was in love with "Maggie Evans" when I was thirteen:

^ I know there are some really bad parts of the 1970 Parallel Time, but I swear her skirts were even shorter that year. When Maggie is Quentin's new wife ala the Rebecca storyline, he is always picked her up and spinning her around and there are a lot of panties or near panties shots. I guess that was pretty shocking and wild for daytime of the time.

I've been itching to watch my first two sets, but I'm trying to finish Buffy first. There are few sets on Netflix Instant Watch now, too.

Tim Burton's Dark Shadows is in pre-production, with Johnny Depp set to play Barnabas Collins. Now Eva Green has been cast as the female lead, Angelique. Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcoate are in final negotiations to play Willie Loomis and Victoria Winters respectively.

I'm only now seeing this! This is fantastic. I like Eva Green. But Depp is going to have to go the whole mile to replace Jonathan Frid in my heart as Barnabas Collins.

So I'm assuming this Angelique is gonna be a brunette... I can live with that :)

If the Dark Shadows movie doesn't have constant bloopers and flubs due to the scenes being filmed in one take, I will so boycott!

Eva Green is such a fox. I was just watching "Casino Royale" and thinking I hope I'll get to see her in more movies, because she's one of the most gorgeous young actresses to come along in awhile.

I was hoping she might be cast in the new Batman movie, but it's good to hear she's appearing in another major release. I don't know if I'll be interested in the movie, though, as I've been really disappointed in Tim Burton's recent output. Maybe this movie will get him back on track.

You know, between Angelique, Morgan Le Fay, and her character in THE GOLDEN COMPASS, Green is cornering the market in witches . . ..

If they use anything BUT the million hours of music Colbert wrote, it will be a horrible mistake. Dark Shadows music is iconic for the show.

Oh, and I had a huge crush on Lara Palmer. Angelique for the win.

As did I, although I think you mean "Lara Parker."

(Who has written at least one Dark Shadows novel for Tor, btw.)

That scene in the second movie when she descends the stairs in a see-through white nightgown made quite an impression on me in my youth! :)

I'm still trying to finish Buffy and Highlander before I crack open my new Dark Shadows DVD sets. I wonder why we are hearing relatively little confirmations about this film? Now that Burton has effing finally gotten to it, it still seems like he hasn't gotten to it, beyond speculation about HBC, of course. ;)
