I think we have lots of good songs this year
and I think generally a very nice overall quality from the participants.

My personal favourite songs this year are:bolian:
(not in any particular order) :
  • Australia
  • Bulgaria
  • Czech Republic
  • Norway
  • Austria
  • Germany
What songs are your favorites?
Who you think will win?
What songs do you dislike?

I am looking forward of the contest and..I am sure the very professional team from Sweden will
give us all a big and well hosted program/show this year.

Let the Eurovision Song Contest begin!

It's not the same since Wogan stopped doing the commentary for it, sure Norton does a decent job.

I'm so excited, my rectum distended slightly.

I wonder if the Brexit referendum will piss the rest of Europe off and we will once again receive nil pwa (here's hoping).

I wonder how much of the usual neighbouring countries giving each other high scores we will see this year. ;)

Disappointed that Finland didnt qualify, but I think that our show/production just was not on the same level with some of the other participants. Sandhja also has had better songs before.

I voted for Austria and Iceland. Considered voting also for Cyprus, but decided that two votes is enough.

Fun ESC-fact: Cyprus and Finland have never qualified from the semifinals to the final in the same year. I guess now was turn for Cyprus.

My personal favorites were the ones of San Marino and Cyprus. Ours (Greece) kinda sucked.

I think that the second semi was better than the first one. Bulgaria's performance was surprisingly good. Might even vote for her in the finals.

Sad that Sweden is now the only Nordic country in the Finals.

What do you think about Australia being in the competition? I think that one time stunt was ok, but regular participation somehow doesnt feel right.

Man vs Machine was just weird :D
But I think that everyone here should still see it:

Come on. Australia is closer to Europe culturally than several other regular contestants, plus would have a larger actual European population than some fully European countries in the EBU. Plus we love ABBA in a way that is kinda scary. Do we need any more credentials? That said, I have no idea why we're back in 2016 and I was pretty happy with being just allowed for the 60th. Our broadcaster is meant to putting hosting a Eurovision Asia competition next year. Our participation might be tied to that in some way.

I dont deny that Australia is culturally close to Europe and does have large ESC-fanbase. And I was fine with last years participation. But becoming a regular participant is what I'm against of.

One thing is that the winning country will host the next competition and I dont see that working with Australia. Travel costs would be too much for some of the countries.
Any idea who will host if Australia wins? UK? I wouldnt want the UK, or any other country, to have the hosting privilege unless they win it by themselves.

And then there is also that block-voting. I think that it is also part of the fun and I fear that Australia will mess it up. People may use Australia as a kind of an protest-vote. Voting for a country that is not part of an established participants.

I guess its just about an outsider coming to play on our playground :D

But the song is great and I'm sure that it will be in the top part of the results :)

Don't worry the blocs should hold Australia off...for now. In the very unlikely event Australia was to win 2017 would still be in Europe. According to SBS (our broadcaster and the sponsor of our entry) they would partner with someone in Europe, but no one has been selected yet.

I've just been informed that if we vote Brexit... we still have to take part in Eurovision. :brickwall: Oh for fuck's sake.

France was catchy (total rip off of another song though).

Why all in English though?

Perhaps because having a song in English greatly increases your chance of winning.

47% of all winning songs have been English, French is next best at 22%.

But current rules allow the song to be in any languange, in previous years they had to sing in their own langugae.

They're advertising tat in the middle of the show. Eurovision baseball cap. Oh the humanity.

Almost time for the best part of the show the voting. Though aren't they using yet another voting system this year.

Jury votes announced first
Then viewer votes.

Might make it interesting to see if juries vote differently than viewers

Israel and Australia are my two favourite European countries.

Justin Timberlake's People: Hey Justin, wanna perform at the Euro-visual contest.
Justin Timberlake: Fuck no.
Justin Timberlake's People: It has an audience of 200 million.
Justin Timberlake: I'll pack my suitcase.

It's almost as if the whole of Europe are collectively saying... we hate this shit so much... please make it go to the other side of the world.

Germany give 12 points to Israel. Lol. All is forgiven.

Exactly. I knew this would happen. Its new, its different and the song is not bad. And this way we dont need to choose between our neighbors. Maybe public votes will help? But the lead is probably too big already. Feeling sad for the Ukraine. They would have deserved the win. Well, atleast Russia is not in the lead.
