What are your favorite songs?
Who should win this year?
What do you think about the stage desing?
Is the new voting system good?

Ill be sitting in to watch again, gotta love it :)
Havent actually heard the songs yet this year.

I have only heard the Swedish one, which is not that bad. I'll probably watch the final, but not the semis.

I've been following this off and on for several months now, and I'm really disappointed. 2009 was consistently good, but the 2010 performances just seem to be missing the same fire...

Yeah, I agree Shikarnov. None of them stick in my mind, at least not in a good way...

The German entrey 'satellite' is a catchy song but I hate it because the singer Lena tries so hard with her mockney accent. It is a way better than the UK entry witch is banal. They had a much better audition show than we had in the UK with several songs voted for as well as singers.
Of course neither The UK or Germany can win because both are unpopular.
That is why real bands never enter and the whole thing is a joke.

At least this year Dr Who is not being taken off for the week!

The ESC used to be fun.

Now it's just an ironic reminder of why the United Kingdom doesn't really like Europe very much.

My ears are bleeding everytime i hear Germany's entry.

That young woman has become quite a wonder in Germany.. topping the charts with everything she's released, having an insane schedule (she appears on almost every entertainment show) while having her final exams in school.

While she is refreshingly honest and natural in interviews i just can't stand her song. Germany is pinning all their hopes on her and various reports by sensationalist media have cooked up reasons why she will win this year but even though she's pretty i think her song and appearance are too bland for the Eurovision and she'll finish up somewhere in the middle.

Today it starts, with the first and somewhat weaker, semi-final:techman::cool::bolian:
Here are the ten songs, that I think will go to the final from the 1st Semi:shifty::

  • Moldova
  • Slovakia
  • Finland
  • Latvia
  • Serbia
  • Malta
  • Albania
  • Greece
  • Portugal
  • Iceland

Hey, is Greece in the first semi too? Yay!

I don't remember many of the songs, except the finnish one ('cos I'm finnish and they play it on the radio 24/7...) and the greek 'cos I wanted to know their song and i think it rocks!

I heard Germany's song from TV in this eurovision thing, and the people rating the songs loved it. I have absolutely no idea why! There's really nothing special about that song. Or maybe I just dislike it very much and disguise my hate as a neutral opinion.

And yeah, eurovison has become pretty...tiring. I don't remember the last time I heared a song in ESC that I actually liked very much.

UK's problems started when they introduced the concept of semi-finals. Back in 2002, when there were no semi-finals, UK came 3rd place with 111 points (sharing the place with Estonia, who also had 111 points).

But then they introduced the semi-finals and ever since then, certain four countries always come last. Why? Because they get to be in the final automatically. That's why no one voted for them. The others needed those votes to get that free pass to the finals, but the 4 countries got automatically there.

Because back in 2003/2004, the 4 countries plus 10 best places went straight to the finals next year. Now there's that change that every country, except for the big 4, has to go through the humiliating semi-final process... but I guess it's not enough for the rest of Europe.

They probably still see UK, France, Span and Germany as stowaways of sort.

Sometimes privileges can bite you in the ass. Unfair, yes. But the problem for UK is not Balkan or "friendly neighbourly" vote.

I'm fairly sure that Germany will do great this year. Perhaps that will end the curse of the big 4.

Horrible semi-final. And not just because of the songs. There were some serious technical issues. The picture just disappeared constantly and many songs had image and sound out of sync.

And Belarus passed? Ugh. No want butterflies. At least one favorite managed to get into the finals. So that's good.

I'll be rooting for Germany and Belgium in the final.

As I say I hate the mockney singing trying to cope Kate Nash is never a good thing. I hear there was a bit of a scandal with some nude pics of her turning up in German rag Bild a couple of weeks back.
The main reason she probably won't win is she is not from eastern Europe however her Grandfather was The West German ambassador to The Soviet Union in 1980 if that counts for anything....# I heard it the other 'die' #

Biggest problem for the UK is that we no longer take it seriously. Probably haven't for over a decade now.

A few years ago we even tried to get Jordan into the competition as our entry, but she was beaten out by a group that were clearly tone-deaf.

Every year you find some decent songs, but the vast majority still remind you that the bulk of Europe still appears to be musically retarded.

Sweden didn't pass. Wtf? That's gotta hurt.

Much better semi-final than the first one though. I was even entertained tonight.

I was surprised by Turkey this year. Very un-turkey. Refreshing.

To the OP. I didn't see Czech this year. Did you guys officially give up? Or is this just a small break?

And yet your representative this year has very eastern european facial features. And the name Dubovie... just has that sound.

:)

Unless he somehow incorporates a tambourine and a goat into the act, we still don't have a chance. ;)

I totally agree with you. Although I haven't heard the British entry yet, that song from Lena is annoying because of her funny accent. Also, I don't think it has got a chance of winning. And yeah, I consider the song contest to be a joke.

Small break:cool: Czech will be back again next year.
The 2nd semi was great, almost all song where good..and some where excellent:techman: And some of my favorites made it.
I was very happy that Georgia made it to the final:cool:, quite underrated song with a singer that has an amating voice.
I was also happy that we see Ireland in the final..and Azerbaijan(needs to improve some of the performace) plus Armenia, too.
I was also bit suprised that Sweden didint make nor Croatia..I think must be the first time for the swedes since 1970s that they arent on the ESC final, though there was no semis back then.
I have no idea who will win..nor I will guess:):shifty:.
We see that on Saturdays final:bolian:
