Eurovision Song Contest 2010

I'm rooting for Armenia:

I hope she can also sing. :p

My top 3 would be Romania, Turkey and Iceland

Also the singer from Azerbaijan reminded me of Olivia Munn at one point in the semi performance, i put that down to the lighting.

Should be an entertaining night again though i wish Lithuania got into the final, they seem to go with quirky songs (2006 anyone?)

Also would have liked Lithuania to get through based purely on the best costume reveal of the comp.

Never watch the ESC before, so the UK, France, Spain and Germany always get an automatic jump to the final along with the country that won it the previous year?

Yes.

From wikipedia:

Big Four

Since 2000, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Spain have automatically qualified for the Eurovision final, regardless of their positions on the scoreboard in previous Contests. They earned this special status by being the four biggest financial contributors to the EBU (without which the production of the Eurovision Song Contest would not be possible). Due to their untouchable status, these countries became known as the "Big Four".

I save my all my Eurovision entertainment for the actual final, so I haven't heard any of the entries yet. This is mostly because I don't listen to the radio (have a nifty CD collection) and I hardly watch any telly.

I think it's a shame it's not taken as seriously as it has in the past, and I admit that my kids and I watch it purely for light entertainment. We've stocked up on junk food and are ready for a good giggle. Honestly, if my son on the autistic spectrum says that a song and/or performance is weird, it's a definite WTF moment. The political voting over the past several years is also very off-putting.

Yeah. :(

To crosspost from another forum where last year was also a blast and this year nothing is happening:

Norway sounds like a children's lullaby so far. (The beginning did anyway.)

Watching the thing now. Moldova is on right now - and it seems normal service has been resumed. :guffaw:

Just be all happy that you won't be able to understand the lyrics of the French song.
Voltaire is not proud of it right now
