Essential VOY episodes (for a full Trek experience)

This is a follow-up on my General Trek thread (http://trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=77024) trying to determine the 100 essential Star Trek episodes by roughly proportionate representation from each series.

Note: "Essential episodes" are not the same as "the best" or "your personal favourite" episodes. So, please don't vote as such. By "essential" I mean: What episodes would a newbie Trekker need to see in order to get the fullest possible experience of the Star Trek franchise?

So, that would mean that any episodes with MAJOR plot or main character advancement would need to be included (this means including most series premieres/finales, many season premieres/finales, episodes containing main character introductions/deaths, episodes with developments which are pivotal to understanding most of what comes later). I think each season should also be represented by at least one episode.

Below, are all the VOY episodes that were nominated in my other thread. Proportinately, VOY represents about 25% of the total number of episodes so please choose the essential 25 from the list.

If you feel very strongly that an episode should be included that is not on this list, please mention it along with an explanation. Thanks!

Donde esta el listo de voyager?

Anywho, if I had to pick voyager's essential eps, I would say the following should be included fo sho.

Year of Hell
The Killing Game
Basics
Deadlock
Caretaker
Timeless
Latent Image
Equinox
Future's End

I may be missing a few, but I think the majority of these covers it.

To me there are two types of episodes that are representative of Trek:

1) The adventure with the social message like TOS "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" and VOY "Resistance".

2) Fun episodes where the characters "take a break" from the drama like TOS "The Trouble With Tribbles" and VOY "Bride of Chaotica".

Consequently, in keeping with the "it's not about your favorites" spirit my choices fell into one of these two categories. There are plenty of episodes listed that I just plain like even though I wouldn't call them truly representative of the Trek experience.

I loved Bride of Chaotica :)

'And rememeber...you're the Queen!'

:D

It's funny... that's one of the episodes that no one nominated but it was included in Star Trek 101 as one of the top 10 essential episodes of Voyager so I included it on the list and it looks like it's got some popularity!

Well Janeway as Arachnia and Tom prepping her for the role is a hoot. Also, there's the "retro sci-fi" angle. If you haven't seen it you should check it out. :)

Oh, I've seen them all and have them all on DVD. ;) This is more for a buddy of mine who I'd like to watch some of the key Trek stories with.

I definitely loved "Bride of Chaotica!". Most people thought it was stupid and cliche of trek to include that. I literally thought the episode was a hoot especially when Tom was trying to convince Janeway to play the role of the Arachnia. She was like: all right all right! I'm size four!"
Why wasn't "Shattered" added to the list? I ask that because it had most of all the Voyager's storylines in it when the ship was fractured into different time periods. That was an interesting episode and if someone of the audience doesn't understand the show, they will if they see this episode cause it includes almost every storyline from before Voyager leave the AQ, to Seska and her Kazon clique. :D

Well, so many great episodes there, but as essential ones I had also pick some I don't really like, like Unimatrixes and Endgame.

For me obviously Caretaker is also essential, Learning Curve, Maneuvers, Meld, Resolutions, Basics, Fair Trade (because they are crossing the point in DQ Neelix knows nothing about), Coda, Scorpion, The Gift, Day Of Honor, Night...

... and there were couple more as well. :)
