He was about as well known as Kate was when she took the part as Janeway.
There's nothing wrong with being a c-lister. It pays the bills and keeps ones children in orthodontia.
Please remember that I am a dirty foreigner living tens of thousands of miles away from Hollywierd, so it is almost a fetish that I am involved in American culture as I am as it stands.
It just seems that if the idea was to scare Kate, and Kate's agent into bending over in the negotiations for continuing the show through to it's complete run, then they could have hired some one spectacular as her possible replacement.

I highly doubt a scare tactic would have worked for Kate. She is and was thoroughly entrenched in the theater and could have just gone back there where it would have been less stressful to get the bills paid.
i believe that was also around the time she was getting married or about to get married to a politician from ohio (forget his name) and she stated she wasn't sure she wanted to be commuting or in a long-distance marriage.
Well that's ironic (in a very stupid way.).
Mulgrew was almost willing to give up the ship/job for a man (For the marriage! not the same thing as for her man. ) but Janeway wasn't willing to take a man for fear that she would lose her ship (status presence respect) and Mugrew wasn't willing to let Janeway take a lover for almost exactly the same reason she was unto ready to commit herself towards.

I wonder if Geordi's mother was a captain yet (Of the Oylmoia or another vessel.) when she was pregnant with him and how carrying him during her tour of duty affected her command style... Not that Seska's pregnancy wasn't some choice currency.

Actually, Kate is very consistent in her interviews about being a rather traditional when it comes to marriage and being a wife.
Of course she is, because Kate is not Kathy.

It probably would have taken too much power. Much easier to put him in his quarters for the trip. The amount of power it takes to run the force field keeping him inside, would surely be much less than keeping Suder himself in stasis.
Plus, it allowed for the possibility of Suder making himself useful during his confinement. Which is exactly what happened.

Plus he's actually punished for his crime. If he were in stasis... well here's an example
Tuvok: (Deactivates stasis unit) Wake up Mister Suder.
Suder: Tuvok? You look so old.
Tuvok: Logically time has past. You have been in stasis for 75 years.
Suder: (Looks in mirror) Hey I look the same. Wow you look so old! (Looks around) Where's Captain Janeway? Chuckles? B'Elanna?
Tuvok: Dead.
Suder: Attack?
Tuvok: Old age. You were in stasis for 75 years after all.

Furtherly redundant, every Maquis upon arriving in some federation port of call near their outer boarders is going to be frog marched off that ship and deposited into a penal colony to probably serve out a sentence of several decades for acts of treason and terrorism all the while the Cardassians are screaming blue bloody murder about their extradition treaties not being honoured in-so that the execution process towards the last of the Maquis is not proceeding as cordially as they would prefer.

If the whole terrorism thing (Starfleet officers were probably killed. No? Oh, so they were the good terrorists?) is swept under the table then, upon waking up Suder would have still been liable for the murder wrap and be sent to the suffer in Palmerston North like all the other murderers caught bloody handed.
Three more points of contention.
Janeway wasn't interested in Suder trying to be useful. He was beyond redemption as far as she was concerned.
The Botany Bay kept 90 supermen alive for 200 years with power generation facilities of the 20th century chugging away in it's belly. The same too for that space station from TNG The Neutral Zone.
Considering "food" is kept in stasis rather than being refrigerated, the power concessions can't be all that grand.
NO! Michael Dorn is the actor who ate TNG and DS9 and turned them into the Klingon Soap Operas 1 and 2! If he had turned up on Voyager, I would have stopped watching. Really.If Ransom had survived, I would have thrown him in the brig. He would have stayed there for the entire trip home. And been fed on nothing but water and leola root stew.
This is how slowly I think. Things I say don't make sense to me as I say them. Good and terrible ideas can be left separated into tiny jigsaw puzzles like Tombraiders mystic triangle halfs waiting to be joined into...
What if everything that happened in Equinox was exactly the same except that Worf was the vessel's Captain?
If Equinox's captain was supposed to be a VIABLE replacement, why not use a viable actor?
Besides how were they planning to CHANGE the second half if they had to fire Mulgrew and get this Mengelaish Dope be the shows lead?
