Equinox episode on this week, most criticized in Voyager

Tonight is the night for Equinox on Spike, cannot wait to see it again. I'll expect however to hear from my partner Ronald the endless taunts about the show.

Ummm, no......wait......I meant.......never mind.
Uh, make that this afternoon.. (unless you're taping them to watch tonight) Both eps air back to back in the afternoon timeslots. There will be no latenight encore tonoght-none air on Thurs or Fri nights....DarthTom said:

My biggest beef with Equinox, is that we are left with 4 Noxxies onboard, and the show did absolutely nothing with them! We got the Borg kiddettes, but they choose not to take advantage of the wonderful opportunity of having 4 new people on the ship. And I really wish they'd been more. Heck, make it 30 or 40 castaways instead. Shake up things onboard Voyager to have to intergate that many new people...

Besides, we should have known we weren't going to see them again when Janeway stripped them of rank and sent them to the lower decks where none of the bridge crew ever goes.
They weren't interacting with anybody much too begin with, so it would have done them no better.cylkoth said:

The DVR is set to record at 4 for a reply tonight. Besides, who wants to watch 20 minutes of WWF commercials in between the show watching it live.
I'm not a writer nor a TV programming expert it would seem that adding too many primary characters would become untenable for both the producers, the writers, and the viewer to follow cohesively. Shit, as it was you had Beltran complaining after Voyager ended he didn't get enough screen time.
So, I'd imagine the writers add the Borg kiddies for an excuse to focus on Jeri Ryan which they banked on the fan-boys would return to the franchise in droves for.
^^ I was thinking more along the lines of having additional recurring charaters, rather than full blown regulars. Seska was their most successful recurring character imo, and it bugs me that we never got another as good as her. None rose to the level of a Chief O'Brien, Ro Laren, or Garak...heck, even a Rom or Nog.
The Voyager cast gelled so perfectly at the beginning, that there seemed nowhere to take them after the first couple of years, which is the opposite of what happened with DS9 and TNG, who were strengthened by better stories and writing as the seasons progressed.

^^That and I believe the Borg Kids were also to test the waters on how the viewing audience would respond to characters added outside the main cast.
Being that the Borg kids didn't "take off" with fans, why bother trying with anybody else? It would have been a waste of time, energy & a budget to include more characters fans might also not like. If what you said is true Darth Tom , about non-fan not liking this ep.,it would be a waste to bring the Equinox crew back.

That's because to a much greater degree IMHO the whole premise of the show was a copy cat of Lost in Space Star Trek. The Robinson family errr the Voyager crew meets aliens, spatial anomaly, personal crisis of the week, and resolves it as a family. Rinse repeat.
Last night's episode the Melinnium Gate thing was another example of a wasted episode IMHO that didn't follow the formula of the Robinson family lost in space.
Come on, TNG has just as many clunkers as Voy. does.
Geordi, Riker, Troi & Crusher were just as plain as Tuvok, Chakotay, Neelix & Kim. Besides, how dull would it be if all Trek shows progessed the same way the ones before it did? It would be like watching the same show but with a different title.
It was ok. I didn't know anybody hated it.
Voyager should have been in the same condition the Equinox was in, if you ask me. Maybe not *as* roughed up but definitely damaged. It was also a helluva coincidence the two ships were able to meet up with each other at all given how vast space is and how many detours both ships probably took along the way (along with the 'jump aheads' that were done a few times)...though that's explained away by the Equinox's engine efficiency technobabble.
Janeway goes a little nutso about pretty much torturing the Equinox crew members, and disregards Chakotay when he's trying to warn her off. A significant departure from all previous Janeway actions, but I guess it happened often enough throughout the series to actually make its own pattern.

I thought Equinox was one of VOY's best myself.
Please do explain. I find your thoughts on how BSG is better then everything fascinating.
