Episodes where Kirk famously "bluffs" his way out of danger

Captain Al

TWOK is famous for its scene where Kirk calls up Reliant's combination code to drop her shields while Khan thinks he's retrieving the data for Genesis. This scene is supposed to draw on Kirk's history of bluffing his way out of trouble.

Which episodes show Kirk actually doing this? I recall The Corbomite Maneuver, of course, but off the top of my head, I can't remember ther other episodes where this happens.

Which episodes are they and what is the bluff?

In Journey to Babel, they are battling an opponent that is moving far too quickly for the Enterprise to make a phaser lock - he has engineering shut down power to the Enterprise to appear that it is disabled, and then when he enemy leisurely comes in for the kill shot he opens fire.

In "The Enterprise Incident," he re-uses his bluff from "The Corbomite Maneuver," this time against the Romulans.

In "Elaan of Troyius," Kirk bluffs (or stalls for time) with the Klingons asking for terms of surrender while giving Scotty time to install the new dilithium. He bluff weakness by cutting in warp power at the last moment before opening fire.

I always liked the bit in "Day of the Dove" where Kirk promises Kang about no tricks once they reach the Enterprise and Kang calls him a liar because Kang didn't pick up on the technicality before agreeing to Kirk's terms. LOL

In "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" he activates the Enterprise's self-destruct to force Bele to return Kirk & Crew control of the ship.

The classic and first instance of this is in The Corbomite Manuever; as 'Corbomite' was somethiong he made up on the spot in an attempt to stop the scheduled destruction on the 1701 by Balok.

In TMP, Kirk bullied Vejur by threatening to withhold information about Vejur’s creator — information that Kirk didn’t have, but Vejur didn’t know that.

I like the part of Piece of the Action where Kirk and Spocko sit at one of the gang leader's desks and just BS the entire story of how the Federation is taking over :) Classic

That trick is also used in Balance of Terror.

And in especially ridiculous fashion in Rambo: First Blood Part II.
