Episodes for a 7-year-old

BorgLady

Lieutenant Junior Grade
Red Shirt
I've recently introduced my adopted brother to Enterprise, and he loves the few episodes I've shown him.

I want to go through the series with him, episode by episode, but there are some that have... semi-adult content in them. (He's seven years old, so there are scenes that he just shouldn't see yet.)

If anyone knows the series by heart, and can steer me in the right direction, I would love the help-

Which episodes are the most vital for me to show him that have no (or very light) sexual content? (And yes, kissing is okay ;))

Any and all help is appreciated :)

I'd say...

Broken Bow
The Andorian Incident
Shadows of P'Jem
Carbon Creek
Minefield
Cease Fire
Regeneration
Bounty
The Expanse
The Xindi
Twilight
Azati Prime
Damage
Zero Hour
The Forge
Awakening
Kir'Shara
Babel One
United
The Aenar
Demons
Terra Prime

....are the most vital, without any sexual content. I'm sure there are more, but those are my favorites.

I'd also HIGHLY recommend "In a Mirror, Darkly" (both parts). However, if I remember correctly, there is some sexual content between Mirror T'Pol and Mirror Trip. You'll have to make a judgment call on that one.

Wow, you and I have very different ideas what constitute "sexual situations":
Broken Bow: Decon scene.
Shadows of P'Jem: T'Pol falls boobs first on Archer's face.
Carbon Creek: T'Mir gets undressed behind a sheet that emphasizes her figure.
Bounty: T'Pol goes into heat.
The Xindi: T'Pol goes topless during the NP scene.
Damage: T'Pol dreams about getting steamy with Trip in the shower. Also the sight of her tranformation as she attacks Trip at the end of the nightmare could be disturbing to a young child.
IAMD: There is some conversation about T'Pol's pon farr. However it's Hoshi who traipses around in lingerie. An alien is beaten by MU Travis and the agony booth scenes could be disturbing to a young child (I'm an adult and I found Trip's AB scene disturbing).

To be honest, I'm not sure I'd recommend much of Enterprise for a child of seven.

Shuttlepod One
Desert Crossing
Singularity
Cease Fire
Horizon
Proving Ground
E2
Observer Effect
Demons/Terra Prime

Well, I have only seen each Enterprise episode once. I honestly didn't remember some of those scenes. However, I thought "sexual content" means either people actually having, or having just had, sex or heavy, heavy innuendo. I should have said "....are the most vital, without any heavy sexual content." Sorry.

I have to disagree on "Broken Bow" and "Shadows of P'Jem." Those scenes, while suggestive for adult viewers, wouldn't be all that suggestive for a seven year old, IMO. I thought the scene where T'Pol falls onto Archer was mostly played for laughs.

I'll will agree on "Bounty," however. I guess it's not exactly like "Amok Time," when Spock goes into heat. Also on "The Xindi." Another scene I completely forgot about. And I guess "Damage" and IAMD could be somewhat disturbing for a kid.

I agree with all objections you posted, except these two. The first one is just a stupid joke that a seven year old will not even notice, and the second one is not a sexual situation, just someone changing clothes.

There are certain scenes of violence in Enterprise that may not be appropriate for a 7-year-old. Examples off the top of my head:

"The Andorian Incident": Shran beating the crap out of Archer

"Azati Prime": Archer being beaten and tortured, a crewman in Engineering fully aflame during the attack on the ship

"The Council": Degra murdered by Dolim

"Detained": Travis gets beaten up, but I don't remember if it's on camera

"Kir'Shara": Shran tortures Soval

Well, none of it is heavy sexual content.

OK, I might give Shadows of P'Jem a pass, but I maintain that the decon scene is absolutely not appropriate for a 7-year-old (unless you think a child should be watching a buxom woman reaching under her scanty "t-shirt" to rub gel over her breasts).

I think some fun episodes, great for a child, would be:
* Unexpected, as long as you can dodge the where do babies come from? (For Trip, it's his wrist.)
* Shuttlepod One, a show about friends
* Acquisition, a show about Ferengi and how Archer tricks them
* Singularity, cute show about time travel
* Doctor's Orders, a show about Phlox and Porthos

These are all cute, have minimal violence and I don't think sex scenes.

I'd assume you have told them by 7.
Doctor's Orders would probably be nightmare fuel, considering the Hoshi-monster and the Xindi-Insectoid.

What about the "The Forge", "Awakening" and "Kir'Shara" episodes? There's some violence, but nothing really extreme, it's kind of Indiana Jones-esque, and the bit where they walk through the desert is more exciting than scary...

I have an 8 year old who has watched ENT from time to time. Other than Harbinger IAMD, Bound, and Bounty, (maybe the Augment trilogy) where the mild sexual content is intrinsic to the plot, I would pretty much show him any episode. Yeah, you might have to pause and answer questions in, say, Unexpected, but 7 years olds are just not that interested. I agree with HR - you might want to judge the violence or scariness content as well. I know my son liked Dawn - kids that age want a simple story, some exciting action, with not a lot of talky parts.

Also, there's nothing wrong with fast-forwarding through an inappropriate scene in an otherwise acceptable episode.

I can't remember was North Star too violent? I don't think there was sex in that one...like I said I can't remember...but it did have cowboys.

There was a hanging in it, but apart from that (it was in the teaser, so you could easily skip it) a fine episode for a child.

I suggest you just skip the inappropriate scenes and episodes with sexual/violent content crucial to the plot.

Just show him all of the episodes, its not gonna do any damage. Besides, Enterprise really does NOT have any overt sexual content.
